Hi,

This might be a rather lame question, but what is Steam all about and what are the advantages of using it over just installing a high street purchased copy of the game?

Cheers

Redownload games any time you like (as many times as you like), in game overlay (pres **** +tab, and then you can browse the internet/talk to friends in it, can also play flash games so you can play games while you play games), no need to reinstall after a format you can just cipy paste the whole steam folder.

Lose your disks and have limited internet, you can just copy the folder from a mates pc, all games auto update and if you like that sort of thing there's often achievements.

Also any game that has "steamworks" means you have to use steam anyway even if you bought retail.

In all honesty. Steam is fantastic, however I find you do pay a small premium on games for all of the advantages that Tefal listed above. But they also put on some fantastic offers to save lots £££££££'s !

The only downside is that you can't resell any game tied to your Steam account, but seeing as I never do that anyway it doesn't bother me

Another plus point is the great sales that appear on steam

Yo dawg, I heard you like games... :D

Cheers for the replies.

I take it multiplayer games on customised/mod servers still work just fine?
