SteamOS Official Thread.

Its based on Debian so should be OK. That said I tried it in ESX with no success. The OS seems to fail if it can't find a supported graphics card.
 
Agreed that it does seem to have died out a bit. It was a good idea but it's just not the best solution for gaming, even gaming in the living room on a TV. My htpc doubles up as a Steam streaming box running Arch.

Even if it was directly aimed at console gamers, the library of SteamOS/Linux games is still too small to tempt most away from their consoles.

As for the Bioshock thing, wasn't mentioned in this thread so just spreading the news. I only found out a few days ago so :P
 
Although SteamOS itself hasn't massively taken off, its existence is still a good thing for pushing Linux gaming forwards, and from what I can tell the Linux Steam Client seems to gain most of the capabilities SteamOS does as well

Is there a decent Steam client build for Arch then?
