Step up from s2000?

Looking in the next year or so to maybe change car due to shorter drive to work, new job and better pay, and possibly going down to one car

What cars are similar but a definite improvement?

Definitely want a convertible electric roof
Definitely want rwd
Don't want brand new

I've have toyed with the idea of a z4 but not sure if it's worth it

The other option is to modify the s2000.but again not sure if that's worth the cost

I wouldn't call the handling on my E89 Z4 amazing (all electric steering is very noticeable to me at least, suspension was softer than an E85 I tested), it's more cruiser than thriller although the acceleration is fairly decent (and that exhaust sound) . I test drove the boxster, Z4, 370Z (hardtop) and an SLK. If you have time I'd try and get a drive in each, I found them all fun to drive and a lot more different than I was expecting.
