Most amps with LCD readouts will display the volume as a number with db after it, even if they are controlled with a rotating knob, which may or may not be 'notched'.
Anyway, real men have a volume that goes up to eleven.

They do exist. But this normally the domain of the av amp because they all have a LCD display for all the options and setup.
Your reasoning for wanting one is strange to say the least. Pretty much all the best sounding amps under £1000 have no display. Are you prepared to have a worse sounding amp just so you can have digital reading for the volume rather than a anoluge increment?

Linn amps don't use analogue pots any more, they use a stepped ladder arrangement, which is an all solid sate switched set up and no moving parts or contacts to degrade over time. The read out on the display can be configured to say db or 0-99 linear value.

Yes it does exist, has done for many years, and are superior, and available on 2 channel amps as well......

My AV32R has a digital volume, with 0.5db steps, which to be honest is more than sufficient to always get a comfortable volume level. Early digital volumes had much coarser steps which were seriously inferior to analog pots.
My lyngdorf SDAi2175 has this, and is a class-D design.
All digital baby, with volume going up in 0.1 steps from 0-100, with my ATCs really only putting out sound from 40 onwards. Beast of an amp, although it defaults to 0 when powered off at the plug which is annoying having to crank it all up again.
Solution: Live at homewith parents and leave on standby

Pah, that'll teach you to buy an amp that doesn't have the option to pre-select the volume for each input that you'd like it to default to...
What you mean they don't all let you program the switch on volume you want, the volume level for each input, and whether to ramp down to zero, switch input and ramp back up automatically, to give a softer switch over.

My amplifier is from the 1950s and I think the designers would have shot me as a witch if I suggested any of that kind of stuff back then .Ye, crap thing. Do you want it for a tenner ?

I could maybe stretch to a swap for my old Kenwood 3020se mate, but you know I'd be doing you a favour. Even then it would only be for the rear channels. hehe.
