Stick to OEM alloys or get some CSL reps?

I have a 40ft container being shipped over form Miami next week with some free space so I got to thinking that the tyres on my car are not going to last very long (they often smell of burning rubber when I get home) so I decided to throw a set of goodyear F1’s as they are so cheap there.

They cost 2000 dollars with a set of 19” CSL replica alloys with the F1’s, now I would love a set of real CSL’s however I can not find a set for sale and they seem to be quite expensive.

So is buying the replica alloys a bad idea? What size and offset is best? Gunmetal or mat black on a black car?

Here are the alloys I have now

New one would be one of these

Nice car Paras... I'd keep the stock wheels mate... the E46 CSL wheels wouldn't suit your car as well as they suited the E46's in my opinion.

335i is the one I would go for every day of the week... especially if you ever plan to drive it back to the Uk... :D

Has it visited the autobahn yet?

Very nice car mate ;)

We get a lot of snow around here so the 335xi would be better for the weekend ski trips as it has 4 wheel drive.

However I will probably just take the Kangoo when it arrives as the car really gets abused when we take it skiing. Imagine 4 half drunk, tried people who have been skiing / snowboarding all day trying to cram into the car with ski boots on.

yep had a 700km drive home after picking it up in dusseldorf on new years eve. sad to say I could not take it over 120 mph as I had the snow tyres on

Yah it was a bit of a shock when the car went sideways around a corner because I just gave it just a little bit of power around the corner. The TT never did that lol

I have only ever had FWD before the TT

Are you sure they will fit, I was looking at CSL wheels for my Z4 and I'm pretty sure they won't fit unless I replace the hubs, the Z4 shares much of it's suspension with the 3 series.

OEM CSL wheels cost about £1,000 from a BMW dealer, so they're not that bad at all. You can also get them from Simpson Motorsport.

It's closer to £1600 without tyres.

According to BMW, the CSL wheels will fit straight onto the Z4.

I'm not sure about the Z4 but you can't fit M3 rear wheels to a normal 3 series because the offset is all wrong and they poke out of the arches and look ridiculous. A lot of people get around this by getting 4 front wheels which have the correct offset, but you don't have the wider rears that way.

I'm very surprised to hear that the Z4 has the same offset as an M3 on the rear, that would certainly be something worth looking out for when buying a set of MV2 wheels from eBay or when buying wheels for a Z4.

With regards to the original post, I don't think CSL wheels would look good on an e92. It would be like fitting e36 M3 wheels to an e46, just wouldn't look right in my opinion. The 19 inch M Sport multispoke wheels on an E92 look the best wheels for that car to me.
