Stickies

Personally I don't think the Worth Purchasing/Getting thread is needed. We still get new threads every week asking similar questions for new games to try, perhaps refined a little in terms of genre, age, graphics, SP/MP focus etc, so it clearly isn't working.

Also the general principle just seems a bit subjective to me (as are most forum topics, but still) and I don't see the benefit vs sites like Metacritic, Gamerankings etc

agreed!

I never bother browsing it, as games are very subjective

My issue with stickies once you get more than a few is that I no longer notice when they get updated or someone replies to a stickied thread, unlike new posts on non-sticky threads which just jump to the top.

As for the emulator stuff, well although there are legal ways to use an emulator it will proberly be for the best to keep the 'no emulator/rom' stuff as a rule and just put it the same place as the rest of the rules as already suggested.

At the end of the day whatever keeps the forum tidy and is managable for the moderators is best.

I'd rather have separate stickies, it seems the people that would benefit from reading them most fail to read some of them enough now, I can only imagine it being worse if they were mushed into one generic FAQ one (TLDR syndrome).

Just my thoughts on it though. :)

Well the "worth purchasing" sticky should just be unstickied, if people want to use it then it will remain near the top anyway.

The Emulators and 4 pack steam one should be condensed into a PC Forum Rules thread (could also explain the competitor rule in there properly)

The other 3 could be condensed into a Server list, names list and Steam FAQ thread.

I would have said merge the emulators/4 pack one into one thread and have it as a rules thread, merge the names and servers threads together, unsticky the worth purchasing/getting thread as it's pointless imo.

Can't remember if there was any other stickies :p.

This, the current sticky needs to go as well. If it's popular, it won't need a sticky.

Some threads, e.g. the Steam FAQ fall to the second page and then we get a load of new ones asking the same questions over and over.

Others, contain useful information in the OP e.g. the Steam and GFWL thread, but don't get many posts so fall into oblivion.

I agree that there are some that don't need to be up there.

It is just a shame that a couple of members have taken it upon themselves to complain about this and that the mods have felt it necessary to follow their instruction.

It is now just going to be a case of having to keep some of those threads bumped.

Many of the stickies should have remained.

Mind you, the gaming deal one should 100% be stickied.

Thing is, if it's a 'daily deals' thread, then by definition either it will get updated everyday (and thus appear in the first couple of pages assuming it is more than just an edit), or be out of date.

Just for the record tho, the server game thread wasn't up to date as most of our servers run out last week while i was on holidays.

IMO what ever others want. I for one do like to see the community servers, i dont like the plain text rubbish that some people post up...

When our guys are looking for servers i did use the OCUK server thread to see which one's were busy or not, so its a shame if we dont have something like that in there. I'm sure 5up will do a good job of the names/server combine thread, just please make people upload their game server to gametracker.com

The problem with that is, if the OP with the all information gets updated, the thread doesn't move up to the top. You rely on people bumping the thread for it to reach the first page.

And what about all the people posting deals and discussing deals in the latter posts?

Ok for that thread where people will regularly post like the deals thread, but the rules and servers OPs could easily be updated with new information without people posting new replies. :)

Edit: Nm can see the point was central to deals threads. :o

True enough, but plenty of other threads which are really useful, but don't necessarily get updated often.
