I've just upgraded from i5 750 to i7 4770k and I'm having a strange issue with occasional BSODs.
The rest if the he hardware is a Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H motherboard, Corsair Vengeance low profile RAM (2 x 4GB), an ageing (but apparently still rock solid) Enermax Liberty 620W PSU, Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB and OCZ Vertex 2E 120GB ( the last of them that OcUK sold off at a cracking price), and a Gigabyte reference GTX680.
With the exception of the processor and motherboard the ret of the kit has been running happily in my previous i5 system.
The situation is that fairly regularly on boot up, JUST as Windows (7) is about to start I get a BSOD that only comes up for a split second then the PC reboots and won't detect the SSD, which is my boot/OS drive.
I'm unsure if I'm running the latest BIOS, so I need to check that and update if required, but does anyone have any suggestions about the possible cause of higher issue. I'm on a fresh install of Win 7 but that hasn't had any impact, positive or negative, on the problem.
I've memtested the RAM, which is problem free and at the moment I'm running the system at completely stock settings so I'm at a bit of a loss about the cause of the problem.
The only areas I can think of at the moment is the PSU, which I'll admit is old but has been faultless to date (~10 years I think!), or the BIOS version.
All advice gratefully received!
