Strange Ebay request

I've sold something before and not realised about the price increases but it didn't cross my mind to ask the buyer for more money. Surely the seller could have posted it for less than £11 including the relevant insurance. What was the item?

i would report that he agest t&c of ebay to request money out side of the sale

I don't think that's really necessary unless the seller isn't prepared to send it until OP pays the difference. It's hardly a crime to request more even though it was the seller's mistake. OP mention that the seller has already posted it and OP isn't under any obligation to pay it. There's no need for the seller's ebay account to be tarnished.

I decided to hold off on sending any payments toward postsge, but today I collected the item from the PO and its not even what he advertised aaaargh. Oh we'll guess he'll be getting it back.

If they've asked like that I wouldn't, if they'd have come clean and asked if it'd contribute, I might have met them half way, but to be honest, it's the sellers mistake for not checking how much it cost - it's not difficult.

If he had sent the correct item I would have asked to see the recepit/checked the parcel and then given him half, it's not really your fault he misquoted P+P but that doesn't mean you can't show a bit of goodwill does it? I don't really understand the 'I'm fine legally so **** the world' culture.

contact seller and ask for a full refund. He should also refund return postage if he wants this wrong item back. Anything other than that open a paypal dispute. Don't return anything until you have your money

And when you get your postage wrong as a seller, you swallow the cost. Did it only this week myself

This might not be relevant to the thread, but something else to watch out for as a seller is when the buyer is from Northern Ireland. It will cost as much to post to NI as it would to Europe (about 2x) and I got stung for that when I posted an item 3 years back. It was my mistake for not checking though, so I wouldn't have asked the buyer to cough up more dough. Just to be aware and say on your listing that postage to NI will be 2x of what it would normally be.
