Strange performance in Dirt 2

Posted this in thew Dirt 2 thread but probably better if I raise this separately.

I ran the Benchmark and it says: 51.5 fps min, 61.5 fps avg

However, this game has a similar problem to Dirt for me. Stick it on those dune buggy truck things and the performance is laggy. It doesn't go lower than 40 fps in fraps but just seems to go into slow motion when there are lots of cars on the track. :(

Has anyone else experienced this problem and could it be my core 2 duo struggling to keep up?

From your spec, it definately sounds like the CPU bottlenecking, but i suppose it's the same with all games, when there is a lot going on in the game, it will lower the frame rate

Might be as its not the proper demo, its a very early beta that was leaked, the proper one is due tomorrow around 2pm, so may have better performance being a later build or whatever, or could be a driver problem, which will probably get sorted when Nvidia release their hotfix drivers for it.

I dont get any lag, but i do get corruption lines flashing up on the intro sometimes (Codemasters logo etc...), and the odd flickering on rocks during play, but im not using ATi's hotfix drivers, so don't know wether it is just because of being an early beta, or it is just drivers

Thanks for the replies guys.

Just to let you know I've upgraded to a Q6700 and the game runs fine now. Seems this game needs a quad core to cope with more than one car on track at a time. ;)
