Strange steam problem

Had a update this morning for this "big picture".

Now,i have got my steam games on a 750gb hard drive with roughly 380gb used.

Once the update installed i go and click on my game folder to find 13 games installed ! now i had roughly 45 installed and when i click on a game to install (which i had installed yesterday) it tells me i don't have enough space ! when ive got 300+gb of space left ?

Whats gone wrong ?

Have you got your steam on your c drive or a separate one like mine ?

There is something major wrong,it wont let me install steam anywhere now lol

Going to try a uninstall and start from fresh.

Deleting 435gb

Keep steamapps and install steam to a new clean empty folder then copy steam apps into it and restart steam.

No need to delete all games.

I meant copy steamapps somewhere and uninstall steam then do a clean setup of steam.

uninstalled steam and all my games.

went to install in again and im getting the message "This product can not be installed to the root directory of any drive"

what the hell is going on with steam

I'm guessing you were trying to install to the root of a secondary drive.

I guess with the change to Steam to allow you to choose installation directories for games, you can't do this any more, and need to move everything into a folder and run steam again.

yeah DL steam EXE and install to a location where it will quite happily install, I found it never liked being put into a destination with any files or folders in the path specified.

Can't say I have this problem but what I do have is steam deleting my game saves!! Grrrr played 9 hours of walking dead went to play it and have to start a new game!!! Any ideas? Sorry to hijack your thread.

might still be looming around your registry

download and run cc cleaner to get rid of anything hanging round registry then try a reinstall? also make sure all folders ect are deleted from program files etc

Ive just updated steam , came back, restarted it... and Dota 2 which I was playing about 2hrs ago has now uninstalled!

Infact about 10 + games have disappeared from my list.

To the people in this thread who have this issue..

Do you have your games in the root partition of a drive?

Steam says I have 504 games

Steam Profile chaparral02

View and search all 504 games

But I have no idea if this is the correct number
