Stranger Things (Netflix)

All my friends been going on about this series so yesterday went out and got myself an Amazon firestick tv streamer. Joined up to Netflix and got my mth free trial.

Watched the first 2 episodes with the missus and have to say it's pretty decent so far. Quite enjoyable, seeing as there isn't much on tv these day, I'll probably watch this and a few others on Netflix.

Great show. I rarely watch multiple episodes back to back, but knocked this out in 3 evenings. I'm happy for the story to continue - there's definitely more to uncover - but am worried things will go awry if the writers milk things.

Watched it all over the weekend at the wifes suggestion and I'm struggling to see what the fuss is about. The plot was fairly predictable, there was no great mystery to any of it and it was all so slow paced.

I couldn't help feel it was just another example of someone taking a half-decent movie idea and dragging it out into a series just because series are so popular thse days.

'77 so it's not as though the 80s are a mystery to me although I guess I might have been a few years to late as there wasn't even anything there that I got nostalgic about.

Having said that, if the nostalgia element is that important to enjoying it then that doesn't say much for the rest of it.

It's a whole mixture of things.

The fact that countless amounts of people gelled with it for multiple reasons proves it's a great series.

Even the best film and TV ever made has its haters.

Finished it last night, as a huge fan of John Carpenter/Stephen King etc, it really pushed all the buttons, really really loved it - can't wait for season 2! had me hiding behind a frigging pillow :D

It has the best opening credits too :D

Well, the nostalgia is just one part of it and the whole is greater than the sum of the parts in this show. The acting is good, the 80s elements are better than most things released in the 80s(making this series an 'if only this happened...' wish come true for someone who loves 80s films), the music is brilliant, the visuals are stunning (particularly the other world). Yes, it's predictable, there are some cliches(govt. conspiracy, drunk ex boyfriend cop with a heart of gold), the pace can be slow but overall this an objectively good series. If they had done a normal film, it would've kept the bad parts while missing many good parts.

Loved it, myself and Mrs. Lego smashed it out this week (as we both work 15+ hours a day it normally takes a while to finish things)

Felt like a mash up of Goonies / Fringe / Poltergeist, which is only a good thing!

Netflix is really pushing out some great shows!

Just found out that the kid who played Mike in Stranger Things (the "leader" of the 3 boys) has been cast as one of the kids in the remake of Stephen Kings IT.
