Stranger Things (Netflix)

Good ending, but wished that:

Eleven didn't get "Merlined" by being exiled (assuming she is still alive) and could have remained with the gang as it feels like more suffering on top of the suffering they've already shown she's gone through.

The problem with Stranger things, is it'll never recatch the magic and scope of the first season.

Seeing Nancy going rambo just isn't what I wanted out of the show.
I don't understand how the military let slide the indiscriminate killing of their own either.

But it ties up the story apart from that

I appreciate the ending. It was great in places and vastly over dramatic in others but it could have been way worse.

I also understand the ambiguity of is She or isn't She, as the whole ending of the military rests on it. Just feel bad for Mike as his happy ending never happened.

I think you can make your own choice on that.

It was a bit safe but I still enjoyed it. Given how many shows end in disappointment I'll take a safe good ending. The DnD references were on point and I thought ending felt very dnd.

So.....

the big bad guy who always had more power than Eleven was defeated quite easily while a bunch of kids battled a massive monster that could have crushed them at any moment but plot armour said no. They should have died multiple time's. It also has control over bats, dogs whatever and it never bothered. Why was the other realm whatever so empty? If it was so vulnerable why was it alone? Eleven sacrificed herself for some reason even though the bad guy was already dead, okay doesn't really make any sense? Guess Mike doesn't get a happy ending poor guy. Then had to do a quick foreshadowing with the speakers that she's still alive to keep spin offs alive then scenes at the end basically confirming she's alive, no one died apart from Els sister that no one cares about. Great.

Boring and mediocre very poor way to end a series after 10 years

Hopper should have died, it would at least give some justification behind Eleven defeating Henry using rage/grief as a power source. Very cliche but at least it would make more sense

Anyone else feel the mindflayer got taken down more than a bit too easily? Even the inept military in this could have taken it down with ease given how it was reacting to a single assault rifle shooting it, also where were the demogorgons? You'd have expected them to be fart assing about but not a single one to be seen.

I've mixed feelings about the ending.

The entire final season was poor, awful pacing and odd decisions for major plot points combined with a lack of urgency. I wouldn't say it's as crippling as with GoT, and I make that comparison due to the popularity and draw of both series on a cultural level. The entire action section of the "end boss" was ridiculous, some going rambo with guns and others trying to combat a huge monster externally with makeshift spears feels like a cut plot point or weird message. You refuse to give your younger brother or his friends a gun, despite being armed like a lone wolf from an 80's action flick to go up against a living fortress or at the least unknown odds? Best to make sure they get close enough to stab its tower block sized legs with makeshift sticks instead! I know it's supposed to be a DnD theme, but it just came across as silly, made worse by the fact the "kids" were all clearly grown adults, something I had issues with earlier.

It was nice to see them get back to basics after the big fight, lots of plot holes with that too but seeing them go off in their various different directions was probably the only part of the season I can say I'll remember with any fondness.

I enjoyed the ending.
Certainly wasn't perfect, but as tv goes nowadays it was a proper ending.

It certainly went a bit over the top half way through s5.It got over complex and convoluted, imo? Unnecessarily.
I guess too many characters to give something to do? That's what it felt like.
Not keen on the military stuff. They would have had much more power/control etc than that if they were involved. Not sure what else they could have done with the military. Maybe made it a corporate entity?

But I loved thr theme of stranger things, I loved the 80s clothes, technology etc. I love D&D. I love sci fi, fantasy and horror.

I did like the extended outro. It felt like a real closure. And probably one of my favourite bits of s5 was the very end. (I hate how star trek voyager just ended!)

8/10 throughout I'd say with some seriously 10/10 stuff. But also some 6/10 stuff.

But overall... I will watch it again at some point.

Starting to understand why some people say the 80s was the best decade, it seems nobody was capable of developing PTSD.

Rambo Nancy literally murdered multiple dudes on purpose and she's totally fine, sure lol
Got to have a ozempic girl boss I guess, the guys didn't have much to do.

Enjoyed it, feel satisfied with how it ended. Unlike the feeling I’ve had with other shows I was committed too.

Any explanation to where the stone originally came from? Did dr bremer create the worm hole prior to el and some how brought part of the mind flayer into this world?

Wasn't sure if I had missed that myself.

Yeah I felt same. Satisfied. Lots of plot holes, but if I look for these every time I'll never enjoy another TV show ever.

That's for the spinoff prequel division to decide. It was the main thing that annoyed me, the amount of lines for the 'inconsequential' person Henry kills were too many and too specific, 'They are coming' 'Resist it' means a prequel is on the way as this has happened before etc They say 'Welcome to Derry' and decided prequel a couple of years ago.

Enjoyed it, whilst it has it's issues, it did seem at least a fulfilling ending.

Hopefully they don't release any prequels/spinoffs etc as I think doing so will devalue the main series. It's been such a unique series - I don't think you can recreate the "magic" of the earlier series.

I think I spent the first hour of the finale a bit bored and frustrated then the second hour I found quite a nice way to finish. It definitely redeemed itself.

Well that was a bit of a slog. Overall I enjoyed it as a series though. Must admit I thought there would be a bit more from Will due to his coming out last episode but not sure it was even relevant in the end.
