Street Fighter V

What? You know games like counter strike 1.6 had roll back net code and that's 20 years old and far more complex than a simple fighting .

The graphics have nothing to do with roll back net code.

Capcom have implemented ggpo into all their 2d fighters because it's easy to retro fit it with modern console processing power. Normally games must be designed from the ground up to use it.

yeah but thats counter strike. just because the technology is there it doesnt mean they will use it.

you know what, i have never played a japanese game with a great online feature, other than pso. so until then capcom have to prove me wrong.

Capcom own the licence, and have implemented it on every fighting game not based on an existing 3D engine. SFIV and SFxT use the SFIV engine created before the purchase of the ggpo licence while MvC3 uses the Resident Evil 4 engine.

You have played HDR and probably the 3S remake, they pretty much has the best fighting game netcode there is. Capcom also know how important good netcode is and will definitely implement ggpo in their next game that's going to span 7 years.

Hmmm when tomb raider was xbox exclusive there was a massive thread ****ging off the developer and Ms. Guess this is different...

It is different, SF5 has just been announced, and is coming exclusively to PC and PS4 (ass far as we know). Tomb Raider was announced as coming to Pc/XB1 and PS4 then a month or so later the developer "changed their mind" to make it Xbox only. To be later confirmed as timed exclusive, if anything its more like Dead Rising 3 announced at start to be XB1 only then PC version to come out a while after.

Eurgh, this is like bashing my head against a brick wall.

Capcom have many games from 2010 onwards using GGPO as they own the licence, regardless of which team made them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GGPO#Games_using_GGPO

What makes you think they'll magically stop using it when they know how good it is?

look, if you even read the wiki link you posted, you will realize capcom didnt make those games (aside from final fight)! it was made by iron galaxy, capcom merely publishes it.

capcom dont care about how good or bad it is, they have their own team with their own stuff.

I guess its not guaranteed to utilise GGPO, but it seems mad for Capcom not to do so on their flagship fighting game now theyve already got the license and hands on experience with the netcode with other games theyve published/developed - unless they think they can do better?!? :p

ps3ud0

Ultra releasing on PS4 too!.

Sony made a clever move getting these SF exclusivity deals, sounds like Sony are funding and co-developing SFV with Capcom.

"Playstation console will be the only console this game ever appears on" - said just now on Playstation experience stream.

Cross-platform play between PS4 and PC apparently...

You've been able to since launch. It's no more complicated than any other pad hack.

Grab yourself a soldering iron and a common ground pad and have at it.

Or pay for a flight to Switzerland ;)

Hmm, Could I buy a PS4 just for this game? :p Hmm, I am probably getting too old for this sort of thing.

This does remind me of the SNES and Megadrive days where originally only the SNES had Street fighter 2 until Turbo and Special Champion Edition were released.

Feel vindicated buying a PS4 now, was worried about what next version of SF we would see on the PS4 (at the time was also considering buying an Xbox One).

Nice to see its exclusive to PS4 :)

I'm happy with being able to play against the entire "community" (lol) whether I'm on PC or PS4.

Capcom have the ability to enable PS3 sticks on the PS4, but I am doubtful that they will as they're in Madcatz's pocket.

Er... you know she says "yatta" in SFII right? It's Japanese for, loosely, "I did it".

She's spoken Japanese for over 20 years :p

Yes good point. Will be interesting to see how cross platform works.

In fact, have there been any arcade sticks made yet for the PS4? Ive not checked (I guess not since there are not many beatemups on the PS4 yet!).
