***STREETFIGHTER IV LEAGUE (PC)***

hehe it was pretty bad - would give you a headache after a while lol. Saying that its the taking part that matters - at least you are recording them. did u record our game? (please say no! :p )

I don't like to win if it's because i'm forcing a disadvantage on my opponent =/
Well, if anyone wants to redo their matches with me because of the sound issues, that's no problem with me. Regardless of the initial result, but both games need to be replayed.
Like you say, its the taking part that matters, it wouldnt bother me if i lost points because of this. I just wanna play more games! Don't get me wrong, i want to win the league, but i like playing people i know are lag free and dont run the game at 10fps.

confirming, gg

havent played against guile much, didn't really know how to deal with him...if I hadn't landed some ultras it probably wouldnt have been such a close scoreline.

No mate dont worry about it, its not as if it was intentional! Our result still stands - not like it would change tho would it :p

I just mentioned that the sound annoymed me but didnt request a rematch. But Artheas kindly offered the rematch so hes a good sportman in my eyes :)

He is definitely! what i meant was that i would still get a pasting from him either way - the overall result would still be the same :)

just played MikeHunt79 was some tense stuff.

away: I won me 3-1 mike

Home: i lost me 0-3 mike

damn its totally diff to training mode or even to Championship.. a few times we both like 1cm of life! I think mike got the matches recorded.

HD videos lol good stuff, what program are you guys using to record? I keep meaning to download 'fraps' but keep forgetting, searching for it now infact while I remember...
I'm using Fraps v2.9.9

It takes a little tweaking however, as it really slows down your machine when you hit record. When running at 1280 x 1024, it takes SF4 down from 60 FPS down to 20.

After a bit of experimentation, I found I can drop it down to 1024 x 768, turn most of the eye candy down a little, and I get a solid 60 FPS while recording.

It makes huge files tho, a 4 minute recording uses around 7 gigs at 1024x768, so it has to be resized and compressed a little before it gets uploaded to youtube. :)

EDIT: Here's the vids:

If you click on them and and click the HD button in the bottom right they do look a little nicer...

Just downloaded and installed fraps and tested it out. I recorded a SF4 final in champ mode, it was 3 rounds and the file size was 4GB! So yeah for a 5 rounder it will be pushing 7GB. I didn't lower the settings at first and noticed it crawl to a slide show  lol so switched it off and lowered the settings. Tomorrow I will mess around with the settings and tweak them but it works and the vid is awesome quality. I will probably keep it on all highest detail but just lower the resolution until it gives a solid 60fps. I felt for the first time in along time that I needed a gfx card upgrade after seeing that slide show :p

Yep, it's crazy how much it slows down... I have a 2nd monitor with task manager open, and when recording the CPU using goes to 100% when it's normally around 50% when playing Sf4. Having a fast hard disk is a must also, I use Virtualdub along with x264 to resize and compress the video - no way am I uploading 7Gb!

One tip, turn Antialiasing off, it really kills the framerate when recording. I record at 60FPS also, as if you record at 25 FPS, you only get 25FPS on the screen when playing.

If you need any tips on encoding, etc. I'll be around tomorrow with any luck, I've gotta get some sleep now!

TABLE UPDATED!

Artheas has completed all his games and got 87 points from a possible 90! not bad at all lol. There's no way I can catch up with just my 2 games remaining but I think Margaret if he wins ALL his remaining games can tie with him. If that happens there will be a play off final :p If Cav wins all his remaining games he will probably take a top 3 spot easily, so theres still all to play for at the top end.

The main competition though is between the guys in the middle, there's around 7-8 there who are all quite even so it will be good to see who finishes where. Spudmaster and RaMDOM gave me the most difficulty even though sometimes the scoreline doesn't always reflect the game, but I think they will top the middle order. :)

Margaret, only 24 games to win, no pressure. ;)

I will probably keep it on all highest detail but just lower the resolution until it gives a solid 60fps.

You could also try using the record at half size option, so that you won't necessarily have to play at the resolution you record at.

For anyone reading the stuff about FRAPS and are worried about having to play at 800x600 or ending up with 15GB of video after 2 fights:-

My PC specs are:-
AMD Opteron 165 (Athlon x2 4400+ equivalent)
8800GT 512MB
2 GB RAM

So my PC is pretty crap by todays standards.

I run the game at 1024x768, AA off, variable frame rate, and record using FRAPS at half size, 60 fps (60fps setting is a must). The recorded video ends up at around 1GB per round, so thats 5GB MAX if you go all the way. After compression with VirtualDub, i get about 25MB per round.
If your compressed video is fine, you can delete the originals, and you'll only have 200MB taken up from 2 fights. You can also delete those if you want after you've uploaded them.
My fights all run smooth at these settings, and the final quality is more than watchable.

You can download FRAPS, or get the 30 day? trial version from http://www.fraps.com/setup.exe
