Did a search and was surprised there isn't a thread about this.

A fourth SOR is finally coming out, looks good imo and devs seem to be very passionate and big fans of the original games. SOR arguably has one if the best soundtracks of its era and Yuzo Koshiro is returning to contribute to the SOR4 soundtrack.

Releases on April 30th.

I'll definitely be checking this out played SoR and SoR2 on release, though at the risk of seeming negative I have some minor reservations.

Not a huge fan of the art style, would have much preferred a lower res pixel style like the original games and newer things like Mother Russia Bleeds for that real gritty, retro authenticity.

It seems unfair to complain but I don't like the cleaner, higher res mobile/tablet game art style they've gone for, the retro mode using original sprites really looks off to me with the line drawn backgrounds. Also this is nitpicking but I kind of wish it was a more experienced Japanese studio; for fighting games and scrolling beat em ups they've really got the pedigree and often seem more meticulous about character design for 2D games. Though it's great the original composer is coming back to help.

It does still look good though, maybe they can pixelize the backgrounds as well in future updates so you can have the option. For me pixel graphics with scanline effect or on a old CRT look way better than the the high res bordered line style they've gone for.

I really want some new beat em ups with that more gritty and authentic pixel art aesthetic, Mother Russia Bleeds was too OTT in its own way but it got the retro visual style right for me at least.
 
I remember spending hours playing all the previous ones.

not too sure what I think of the game but may keep an eye on it.
 
I loved these on mega drive, streets of rage was always my favourite game growing up.

Really looking forward to it. Any idea of the price?

No price officially on Steam yet but one of the devs in Steam Forums said "Greetings, Today we are more than thrilled to announce that Streets of Rage 4 is launching April 30 for $24.99!"

The new art style has grown on me I have to say and I was also very weary at first when I saw it was some French devs making it but following this game they have given me hope and as I said above seem very passionate and dedicated to doing the original games justice. Guess we'll find out on the 30th
 
Apparently this is going to be free on xbox game pass day 1?

Not sure if it will be on pc xbox game pass though.

I'm willing to throw down £20 for this but if I can get it free would be even better.
 
Finally we get a release date, not long to wait.

Completed Street of Rage 3 a few weeks back....can see why it was never talked about back in the day.
