Striker Extreme & Q6600 GO - OC'ing issues and help requested.

Installed the Tuniq on Saturday, actually did it twice as I wasn't 100% confident the first time.

Was at 3.0Ghz and had a couple of BSOD's on Saturday evening whilst gaming, even though I was Prime95 stable for 2+ hours. So took the OC back off to standard settings, i.e. all voltages except Memory are now on Auto and my FSB is back at 1066.

Put some work through the system on Saturday and Sunday, would like a second opinion on my temps to see if they seem correct, so here's my current readings (average room temp is somewhere around 20C):

hi guys/gals (trying to be pc)

Been having a play with qx6700, and after a few hitches got it running @3.61, which I'm pretty impressed with. idle temps around 63 and at full load hits mid 80's which is insanely high and why I'm going to go the water cooling route. The problem I have is running prime95 for around 10secs then the bsod. any ideas? I'm running on a asus striker extreme with 1303 bios.

Needs mroe volts to be stable if its doing that most likely :)
What voltage are you putting through it ?

Hey chutney m8, give the TIM time to cure , the temps will drop while this process occurs.

Can you repost a new core temp shot (chip at idle m8 no stress testing);)

it's an akasa ak-961. I've managed to get it stable enough to boot into windows (running at 3.61ghz) but whenever I use prime, 3 of the 4 worker threads stop then the bsod and reboot

Hey mate.

Been at work all day so the PC's been switched off, just booted up and this is my current Core Temp reading with all case fans and the Tuniq fan on max:
CoreTemp@IDLE.jpg

The temps seem to have dropped a good 10C at Idle, but load temps are almost the same as before (although there is an extra 0.10v going through). I've read it can take up to two weeks for the TIM to properly settle so wasn't expecting miracles immediately.

However, I want to make sure I have the Tuniq installed properly. Followed the instructions for installation and the screws are just about finger tight, can still turn them with some effort but the springs are crushed onto the H-plate.

i have a similar set up, here are my striker settings to get it stable at 3.6, the problem is you need to be running the 1303 bios, it is out there, if you can't find it email in trust.

and with that bios any razer copperheads are useless.

;)Nice info, hopefully the other users will post back their findings if they have used this bios information

i think i set it to 1.45v. Changed the fsb to 1110 and the multiplier to 13, i think most other things I left on auto

This info will help both you and chutney

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=159457

Take a look at the threads and read the posts here on EX you will find some useful information and OC tips

Chutney regarding your Tuniq tower leave core temp open and record the temp at idle. lay the pc case on its side and leave for 30 minutes take a core temp reading. If there is a difference in temps, as you say it feels "loose" and you may need to remount the Tuniq.

Had a look in the bios, and the only place to change the fsb has a min value of 533 and max of 5000 i think. CAn change the multi no problem but can't chage the fsb as low as 450. any ideas? thanks

Using the 1303 BIOS I've tried the settings and voltages recommended above by ca9phoenix, but no post. In fact, I can't get it to post anywhere above 1500 FSB regardless of what the CPU Multi is.

Vista bugs out at anything above 1350 FSB. I did manage to get into Vista a couple of times at 1400 FSB with a 9x Multi and was Prime95 stable for an hour. However, I restarted and BSOD when Vista tried to load again.

Currently 8+ hours Prime95 stable with these settings:

CPU Multi: 9

FSB: 1333
Memory: 800

Vcore:1.275
Memory:2.10
1.2v HT:1.25
NB Core:1.35
SB Core:1.50
CPU VTT:1.25

Suffice to say I'm stumped as to why I can't push the FSB higher regardless of what I set on the voltages for Vcore and NB.
