It's been a long time coming, but Stronghold 3 looks as though it's more than able to defend itself against fading memories and concerns that it's too complicated by half. There's plenty of complication in there - for instance, a vast array of factors, from tax to crappy weather, that affect your populace's happiness and efficiency - but it doesn't appear to have 'castle gonks only' painted on its towering battlements. The last year has perhaps not been all too kind to strategy games, but now we're just a few months away from something that promises to be meaty and elaborate without skimping on the flashy, more superficial elements. With a beta due next month, at least we've not long to wait to find out whether these walls are definitely worth storming.

:D :D

Knights of honour was amazing too, but no castle design :(

Lords of the Realm games were awesome too!

Both Castles+Castles 2 pack and Lord of the Realm: Royal Edition are $5.99 at GOG.

Might grab them at those prices but possibly after they're discounted a bit.

I love building huge fortresses etc and loved age of empires 2 for the building walls and awesome bases and taking my time.

Can I do that in this game just spend ages building an awesome castle and army then attacking or is it designed around rushing etc
