Had a call thia afternoon from my cardiologist. I recently had a 24 hour ECG and echo as I was suffering with palpitations. The results were bad. Basically my heart failure is so bad now that even though I'm on numerous meds, everytime I make an effort to do something, it goes into tachycardia and skipped beats. And my ejection fraction is only 15%. A normal persons is sround 55-60%. She said its an accepted sign of a heart nearing the end of it's natural life. At a conference, the cardiologists looked at my case and agreed there was nothing more that could be done for me via procedures or medication.
She has upped my meds in one last effort and said that I am to go back and have another 24 hour ECG, in 4 weeks and if the results were the same (she didn't sound hopeful) that, with the agreement of myself and the Freeman hospital in Newcastle, I would be placed as priority on the heart transplant waiting list as my life expectancy is now short.
In a bit of a daze atm. I suffer from health anxiety anyway (who could blame me), and my mind has convinced itself that I am not going to make it through the whole thing. Sorry to be so downbeat but you have to let these things out otherwise they eat away at you.
