Stuck in a rut

This sounds like classic midlife crisis, perhaps a little early though. In order to break a routine you have to do something different. Why not try a few activites outside your comfort zone? There's usually introductory offers for trying these things before you commit; try them all and see what sticks!

Stop wasting your whole weekend on housework, do a bit in the evenings or hire a cleaner.

Go on trips at the weekend (with your dog, plenty of rural places take dogs).

Hit on every lady you meet. Even if you don't the look of them.

This is great advice. Try an activity where you'll meet women, like Salsa dancing or something.

Surely unless they're in the turkey baster queue they're already in a relationship so it's an awful place to pick up women?

Or a string of them.

Simultaniously.

Give it 2-3 months.

Then invite them all over for dinner.

Promise you life won't be boring after that.

Try one a month and then there will be no looking back. :D

(three kids, wife and a handful of pets)

Now that won't be a rut it will be a whole new life. :p

I get out the house and go climbing several times a week but as far as any sort of social life goes. The few mates I do have are back in South Yorkshire. Pretty much the only people I would consider friends here I climb with and don't see outside of that.

Results in a depressingly similar situation of loneliness and stagnation.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Modern society is rigged.

Only thing I can productively suggest for you is to try and throw yourself into unfamiliar hobbies, settings, etc.

Easier said than done though, I know.

Dark and really not required. There are enough trolls out there doing this to innocent without being on here - have some respect!!

Get the impression Efour wasn't intending this. Although it may look that way. Think he meant end being in a rut and do something new.

I could be mistaken..

Cut out this bit
Watch tv or fire up the pc to play tf2 / borderlands with a couple of mate
and replace it with something more social.
Get your head out of the virtual world and into the real one.

I did this a few years ago and it's been awesome.
Meetup.com for starters
then also find things going on locally, social groups and group events.
Use the virtual world to help you get back into the real one, not wallow in the virtual one..

:p
No harm was intended it was a off the cuff stupid GD response.

Do get out there tho. Turn off the pc for a month or 2.
