Stuff that barbers use

I'm just back from getting a haircut and a shave at the barbers. I mean to ask him every time I go but I always forget. When he's done, he 'blows' some sort of white powder out of a rubber squeezy container all over my face and neck. I've always wondered what it is and what it does. Can anyone enlighten me?

Also, can anyone recommend a supplier or a brand of cutthroat razors and associated supplies?

As said earlier, it is just talc. Sometimes medicated. Closes the pores over and stops irritation after the shave.

I buy my safety razor blades from here http://www.gentlemans-shop.com/ . They sell straights as well, but you have to be good to shave with one of them.

My mate who is a barber went on a course and can shave your face clean in 11 strokes. It's a great shave but not for the feint hearted! I use a double edged safety razor. Works out 20p a blade instead of 2 quid for the fusion blades!

If your after a stright razor theres a few other things Id sugges tto get along with it. Geta leather strop and a badger bristle brush. was boguth a straight razor from here http://www.executive-shaving.co.uk/ and Ive got myself a strop and brush from there too. Also read up on how to shave with a straight razor first, its a slow shave but a good one.

My wife got me a straight razor for christmas a few years ago but I am just too scared to use it :)

She will shave me if I ask but I always make sure I'm extra nice a few days before
