Stuff the French Chickens?

Whatever. My point was that banning imports of perfectly good meat when there is absolutely no scientific basis that it is dangerous is fairly pointless.

If we wanted to annoy the French we could have banned their imports at any time, rather than pretending there's a good reason now. At least if we're trying to irritate them in a fairly silly manner, let's not hide it behind pretend science.

Perhaps because if they don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot they will then stop acting like muppets with regards to our farm produce.
Teaching someone a lesson can be far from "immature".

I agree with Virii - people in this country are far too willing to explain inaction in the face of getting shafted as "being the bigger man" when in erality its the bigger man that holds you down and does the shafting

However hiding it behind pretend science is precisely what they did.

Haha, that's quite good!

Seriously though, is it that big a deal or is it just because there are a lot of people who hate the french? I quite like france and french people, so I'll let them off. :D

*chuckle* Absolutely it is time we stopped acting sheepishly and took the bull by the horns.

The key bit you might have wanted to quote was

"....they pose a threat to the stability of the English Industry"

and this was the justification they used to extend the ban with light to the foot and mouth.

Can we "realistically" claim that French poultry actually threaten our industry though? Unless we currently ban French poultry for other reasons, I doubt we could get that to fly.

I think he means because of the confirmed bird flu thats been found there, not BSE etc.

Oh, didn't know that it had been confirmed in France. You can't actually get the flu from eating chickens though.
