Stunning new DX10 Tech Demo for STALKER: Clear Sky

The particle smoke is cool - definitely the most impressive feature to my eyes. Small-scale SPH seems within the grasp of real-time calculation now, especially if executed on the GPU (see nvidia's 'smoke' demo).

Remember that the tech demos for Crysis looked really classy, and look where we are now, we still can't max it out :p

Anyahoot, I was impressed with the tech demo (seen a mate play the original, not really into horror adventure thingies) and it looks leaps and bounds over the original (although he was playing it on a 7300gt!!!)

Agreed Stalker IMHO was rubbish.

Too much enclosed areas, you couldn't really explore because of the radiation and many other things.

The graphics were pretty pants as well.

This does look much better but if you're not going to have freedom in an outside world you may as well change the scene and put it in a building or something where you have clearly defined playing areas.

Heh, I'd like to see the demo running in DX9 mode, bet it looks pretty much the same.

To date, I've yet to see anything to convince me DX10 is the upgrade from DX9 everyone said it would be. So disappointing :(

 there's loads of places you can explore especially once you get the better armor and artifacts. sounds like you hardly played it at all to me.

well, that dx10 demo in the OP looks great but it isnt adding a lot to what was already there. particle effects and so on yes, but thats easily done these days. i think its quite possible now
