they probably uprated the engine internals aswell.

Thats a huge guess that you simply can't make imho, nothing on the auction points towards this, why would they need to anyways running the stock 500bhp?

It was just a guess. Ill also take a guess that hes using magnesium wheels since hes decided to use carbon fiber to lighten the shell.

You could quite easily make somethign 120k if you bought of high quality or expensive brands

It's a V8 rather than the current 500bhp V10 so it would need some serious work to take it to 500bhp as it'd normally make 400bhp. From the decription there's not a chance it'll be making 500bhp.

If you want a proper 3 series v8 conversion then have a look at an Alpina B8.

Dont forget they have Carbon fibre body shell and they probably uprated the engine internals aswell. That would raise the price a bit more.

It says it has carbon fibre door cards, rear quarters and rear diffuser. The CSL has a fibre roof panel as standard. I can't see anywhere it saying that it has a carbon fibre body shell.

Neither does it mention any engine work apart from tuned headers and a custom induction setup. That, with the 540i gearbox and the CSL final drive, with a generous calculation from a rolling road, could potentially give a paper figure of "just under 500hp" at the fly. They present nothing to back up their claims of a 25% power increase.

Seriously though theres got to be something wrong with it, selling it on flea bay? For significantly less than they paid for it.... scam city

thats modding in general. even show cars that have had 10s of thousands spent on them will get nowhere near that money back from a sale. you mod it like that because you can, not because you want to make a profit on it ;]

gazes at Freefaller and reminds himself that a 9mm round costs approximately 22p.
hmm

;)

my gut feeling is the reserve will be somewhere around £80k.
in reality, apart from the seller, who knows?

currently at 56k and the no mention of a reserve so looks like it could sell for under 50%!

The old M5's V8 didn't produce 500bhp.

It was more around the 400bhp mark wasn't it?

i'm just wondering how much they allowed for labour charges when they say they wouldn't build another for less than £120k.
if it's anything like dealer rates then a huge percentage of that cost could be labour alone.

which would probably be right tbh.
i cant see that car costing £120k without labour!
yes the donor car and engine, plus bodywork would be a lot, but not that much (imo), labour prolly makes up a lot of it :/
tho that would be why they can let it go for a lot less :D

IMHO it's a real shame they went for the 8 pot and not the 10.
the first time i read the auction listing i didn't notice that.
