Stupid clocks go stupid forward this weekend.

In Summer, New Zealand time uses 'Daylight Saving', with clocks put forward one hour to GMT+13. Daylight Saving begins on the last Sunday in September and ends on the first Sunday of the following April, when clocks are put back to GMT+12.

April 6th - dark by 6pm :/

Winter sucks - go to work while it's pitch black, came home while it's pitch black

As a society, we decided we don't like mornings though, so set up all our typical time based structures biased towards the afternoon - 9-5 working, shops opening etc.

If I recall correctly, the 9am start was a result of a four six-hour shift pattern from which we retained the start time, but not the end, of the central shift. There was never any rational reason for the offset, it's just a historical quirk.

Yep this is the worst, seeing the garden Sunday then not again (in daylight) until Fri lunchtime
My parents are retired and look after our dog on a Tuesday and a Friday. One Friday a couple of months ago my Mum asked me if I'd noticed they had tided up some leaves in the corner of the front drive on the Tuesday. I thanked her but said I hadn't because the last time I saw the house in the light was Sunday.

She was kind of shocked when I put it like that and it just fuels my ambition to retire early so I can be outside in the light more than 2 days a week in the winter.

I do like having the ability to use flexi time for my working hours, means even in the deepest winter time I still finish at 1/2 oclock a few days a week so see some daylight

Must admit that being retired i really don't miss those day's, urgh.

Hah!

Same here!

Love being able to get out on my bike when it's sunny!

Used to absolutely hate it having to get up in the dark to go to work, and not coming home until it was dark again.
