It won't be a problem. Just make sure you turn the PC off first. Remove one stick of ram, test game. If still acting up, put ram back in and remove the other stick.
 
I did it.

After all, I'm going to have to fit my new graphics card and PSU when it arrives.

Made no difference. :(

I CHANGED MAXIMUM PRE-RENDERED FRAMES to the highest setting though and I think it has made a marginal difference.

Maybe when my GTX 460 comes it will be OK.

I did ask for my order to be cancelled with this other company, but they said it has already been sent out. Hope it all goes smoothly as the reviews made me want to cancel, but not possible now.

Fraps causes lower framerates on even my system...
I find disabling some of the processor cores makes it run quite abit better.

If your CPU has multipul cores
while fraps is running, go into task manager, click processes, right click on fraps.exe and click set affinity, I dissable all cores apart from CPU 3 (the 4th core on my cpu)

dissable all cores apart from 1 of them and click ok,

see if that helps...
