Sufficient PSU? (Rather powerful system!)

Okay, so I just purchased OCUK's Workstation Pro Bundle;

Bundle Specification
- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz @ 4.50GHz Sandybridge CPU
- Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** B3 REVISION **
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Corsair A50 CPU Cooler

At the moment, I'm running on an old Tagan 700watt PSU, with braided cables.
I'm looking to get a modular PSU, because the braided cables, which sounded like a good idea when purchased it, have proved to be THE biggest annoyance I've ever experienced, when doing anything inside a computer.

However, my budget is now fairly small, having just spent £600 on my new rig. (And I still need to get a HDD on top of this!) How powerful a PSU am I going to need? (That's the one thing that I've never been sure about when building a system!)I'm assuming that a 550W Corsair TX won't do the job?

Ah thanks! That's a fair bit cheaper than the Corsair PSU that I was looking at too! Just for future reference, what's the general rule when selecting a PSU? I'm fine with every other aspect of system building.. I just never really learnt that part, as the PSU I initially bought seemed to cover everything I've purchased subsequently, and none of the systems I've done for other people have ever needed much power behind them!

And I must thank you, I do believe that this is not the first time you've helped me solve a problem!

I'd tell you to go a step further than 500w, because if you upgrade your GPU, you will need to upgrade your PSU

Yes, I'll probably upgrade the PSU when I upgrade the GPU, although unfortunately, I can't afford too much at the moment! The £600 for the rest of the rig came out of my student loan! D:

the main rule for PSU's is to go for a good brand (seasonic, corsair, antec, XFX, OCZ, etcetera)

but a general rule for how much power you would need is:
single card: 400-600W (depending on the card)
two cards: 650W
two GTX 470's or GTX 570's cards: 750W
two GTX 480's or GTX 580's: 850W+
