Suggest a "warm" hatch for <£2k

Group 11 will be a killer rate at that age. Didnt we have a 17 year old girl on the boards recently saying it was 1.5k for her 1litre corsa even.

I took his post to mean brisk response rather then outright performance which he isnt going to get imo
 
FYI the group 11 Xsara 1.8 VTR was cheaper to insure than my group 7 Saxo 1.6 VTR at 17 with 0ncb. However I simply couldn't find any 1.8s apart from in that vile yellow gold colour for my budget so plumped for the saxo instead!

Agreed, worth having a look. My first car at 18 was a 1992 1.6 Colt, 113bhp, weighed nothing, was a load of fun and only group 7 insurance. Has little niceities like electric windows, electric + heated mirrors and a power sunroof. Nothing special, but nice for a cheap first car. :)

I think the newer style (1995 on) changed the 113bhp engine for a 90bhp one, but I can't remember. Worth checking out the Colt though. Something like this would be good for the money. :)
 
I'm not too sure about the high insurance of the Xsara VTR. I was getting better quote on it than I was getting on Golf TDI Mk5 - which is a group 6... The VTS on the other hand had a sky high quote.
