One of my favourites is a little-known British film called Purely Belter. Set in Newcastle, it's about two lads who are trying to get season tickets for the footy. Has a lot of well-known Geordie actors in it (and a good deal of kids from Byker Grove!) and is just a really touching and funny film. The most heartbreaking part has to be where the main kid goes looking round all the pubs for his dad (Tim Healy) and finds him singing 'You Are Always On My Mind' on the karaoke machine; the character completely missing the irony of the words he's singing. Top film.
great film, though i am biased in being a toon fan, there are some classic lines in it though

Underworld, underworld 2, the matador, zathura, bridge to terabithia

I watched those this week and they were all good

Very highly rated and fairly well known, but often overlooked because of it's age: Dr Strangelove

This is a work of genius, my favourite Kubrick film and Peter Sellers gives a flawless performance. If you thought a film made over 40 years ago couldn't have humour that's relevant today, think again.

...Would recommend the following: Bit older / less well known.

To Live and Die in LA
The Limey
The Dish
Fargo
Gotcha!
Hackers
The Mothma n Prophecies
Summer School
Weekend at Bernie's

Assuming they are amongst their rental options
