Hi,

One of my clients virus protection suites is up for renewal next month, their currently using Symantentec EPP with premium antispam.

Anyone have any suggestions on other ones? this ones been a real pain in the bum, the older 10 was better and less hastle.

Needs to be managed by the server, easily deployable and have some smtp spam prevention.

So fan im thinking either keeping with Symantec ... ewww

Kasperski
Sophos or even nod32 enterprise.

Anyone have some other suggestions of views?

Many thanks

yea im using nod32 on my home machine, and do on small offices like 3 users etc, but i want somthing centrally managed.

Does sophos SBE have a managment console where you can see all the machines using the software, and can deploy to mahcines on the network?

Oh god no, we've got sophos enterprise and its bloody terrible!

Definitely Kaspersky, its a bit more complicated but a million times better

I'd also recommend Kaspersky. Just purchased a 500 seat license here that we're going to be rolling out in the next few weeks.

I've also heard good things about the Nod32 business/enterprise product. Supposed to have good central management and still keep Nod32's tiny footprint. If we weren't offered such an amazing deal with Kaspersky I suspect I would have opted for Nod32 :)

For the anti-spam have you considered using something like Google's Postini service?

Why precisely?

Straight forward and powerful with enough flexibility and management options. What's so terrible?

Definition of terrible is CA Protection Suite.

Performance of the engine mainly, has caused a lot of problems for us in the past

We use Nod32 with the console etc... and find it excellent.

Very easy to see a snapshot of what all your clients are up to and can set remote tasks/look at individial configs and adjust if needed plus a whole bunch of other features. Can tie the config down pretty nicely too.

hmm looks like at the moment, sophos and nod32 are the main contenders, with kasperski in the side lines.

Do you have any screenys of the nod32 console? ive bought the business version before, but it doesnt have a console its just the hom version in blue.

Is it the enterprise edition? anndd does nod come with antispam?

whats this google thing you speak of?

Do not buy Kaspersky.

We've got it rolled out to approximately 400 users and after six months of enduring an endless sea of complaints that proved to be due to Kaspersky having undesired effects across the board, we're now trialling other solutions.

Before Kaspersky we had Sophos rolled out to the same user base, and whilst nowhere near as bad as Kaspersky, it wasn't very well polished and the AV heuristic engine's detection sucked.

Currently trialling NOD32 and Avast.

we put in nod32 for a 20 user site just under a year ago, and they are just renewing the license this week. we just installed it and let it get on with it. didn't even bother using the centralised administration for 20 clients, it was that straightforward to install. i can't recommend it highly enough! :)

MessageLabs if you have the money and then it's someone else's problem to look after it!

We're using sophos on the desktop and server O/S which is ok, and looking at Forefront for exchange scanning (only because it would cost £56k for year 1 with Sophos or £147k for 3 year deal with Trend) as we get it for a decent price through an enterprise agreement.
