Jermain Defoe or Javier Hernandez.

Higuain is different class to these players.

Indeed, i actually had to look twice at his comment to see if he was being for real.

Anyhow will be very happy if we bag Higuain, looks like we have got him. I expect that it will take him some time to adapt but his goalscoring record speaks for itself.

Him and Giroud rotating will be interesting to see, what annoyed me a lot this past season was Giroud missing some real easy sitters but now that hes had a season under him, he may come good this season. But having Higuain in the squad means that if Giroud isnt firing then at least we have Higuain, who i hope fires in plenty of goals this season.

Hopefully we will sign a few more players, Sanogo looks like a done deal as well. Still would like us to bag a decent RB to replace Sagna but it looks likely that Sagna will be with us for another season. If he does i hope he has a better season than last. Still want to see Cesar at Arsenal, hes a world class keeper and will only give much needed competition to Chessers and Fabianski, if we keep Fab that is.

Some more deadwood out please Arsenal and better players in to replace them.

How do you come to that conclusion?

He's goal scoring record speaks for it's self, plus he is free scoring at all the clubs he has played for. This includes a good International tally too.

The same can't be said for Jermain Defoe or Javier Hernandez, although I am mainly speaking about Jermain Defoe.

For instance England would be a different team with a player like Higuain up front.

Can't say I saw much of Julio Ceasar last season. I know he has played for some big teams, but he seems quite out of shape. A bit of a Kevin Pressman type goally. Some one who very obviously does eat all the pies. However all the most reliable goalies over the years all had one thing in common. A gut!

Edwin Van Der Sar? Gianluigi Buffon? Jim Leighton? Ok the last one is partly a joke in this context and I accept the general point that a goalkeeper being out of shape matters less than an outfield player but I wouldn't put much stock on the link between a goalie being a bit tubby and them being good.

Hernandez has an excellent record, I don't think anyone can with any justification say that he is of a lower standard/class to Higuain. Defoe you could argue, but he is excellent despite the pass button on his controller being broken. I don't think that Defoe has really been given a fair shout in the Spurs or England team, so it's difficult to compare.

You mistake was including Hernandez in that, have a look at his record last season for United and then look at his International record ;)

My point isn't that you need somebody of that quality, necessarily, but that you need somebody who is going to play in and around the box and score goals for you as Hernandez and Defoe do. You have players who do the Higuain job. Giroud is not as good, but is a very similar player. You don't have players who do the Hernandez/Defoe job.

That's my point, not that Defoe is a better player than Higuain.

Higuain's an interesting signing. Arsenal badly need a top striker (not just someone with potential), but he's very, very similar to Giroud. Obviously he's better, but why spend that much money on what you have, effectively, already got? Arsenal need a goalscorer - somebody like Jermain Defoe or Javier Hernandez.

I can't think of people of that ilk who are available though...

He averages about a 35% conversion rate over the last few seasons scoring about 100 odd goals in 180 odd games. Sounds like a goal scorer to me.

Doesn't look anything like giroud what what I've seen. And even if he is we only have one big guy like him, limits our attacking options if giroud is out.

So giroud got around 17 goals last season in his first year in the big leagues. Higuain is better...I don't see the problem lol

Higuaín would be an unbelievable buy for Arsenal. I actually don't think Giroud had a bad first season personally, but Higuaín is another level. He's a natural finisher and €25M would be a relative bargain if you ask me. I'm sure I read a stat somewhere that only Messi and Ronaldo had scored more in La Liga in the last 5-6 seasons. (Granted Falcao only had a couple of seasons at Atletico).

I can see them going strong for Fellaini too and I think he'd be perfect. Not only due to his obvious physical presence, but because he's so versatile. That said, he's come out in the past saying he thinks his best position is DM and I reckon Arsenal could offer him that alongside Arteta with Wilshere pushing on. Again, I think the £22-24M being branded about would be cheap (looking at the £30M for a PL untested Fernandinho in particular).

Cesar would be decent too as competition for Szczesny - you can't really argue with his level of experience.

can't see Fellaini at a top team ever, no brain and not technically good enough.
This.
I think is the reason why Moyes stuck him upfront, he can bully people there and doesn't have to worry about anything apart from scoring.

As a midfielder/defensive midfielder he would get torn apart imo, poor discipline and concentration. Also, especially after this season him wanting to just bomb forward all the time leaving huge gaps in the midfield behind him.
He doesn't look like he would have the patience to play a role like Carrick, Mikel or someone like that.

Arsenal would be better off buying a specialized defensive midfielder to release Wilshere and Arteta a bit more.
