I quite like Rosicky! Though his distance shooting which was one of the staples of his game has been all but coached out of him at Arsenal.

Yep i just wish he would stay fit for a whole season, hes a very good player whose career has been marred with injuries but when hes fit, hes very good.

And yes Wenger has totally taken out his distance shooting, concentrating more on passing it around a million times before we finally decide to take a shot on goal:p

Thats why Arteta has been a bit of a flop then. He has prolific at everton, socring some sublime goals. He's been a completely different (subdued) player at the Gunners.

So Fletcher has no idea when he'll be back

Now Fergie has gone, I wish they'd just ditch him. I mean it's a sad end to the guys career, but he's not getting any younger and he wasn't the greatest player before, so he's hardly going to be at his best when he's back after all this time

He's a waste of wages at the moment, it's never nice to have to say goodbye to someone in this situations, but surely there's only so long it can go on?

Indeed, give him a role at the club if we can but as long as he's 'injured' we'll use it as an excuse not to buy. He'll never come back properly, we're just delaying the inevitable.

Wayne Rooney misses the trip to Sweden, however, after sustaining an injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the weekend.

"Wayne hurt his shoulder in a fall during a match on Saturday," David Moyes said. "It's not too serious and I don't expect it to keep him out for too long.

"I'm disappointed he's missing the game because we were keen to get him back involved and ready to play."

Re-he-healy? I think not.

.

Exactly what I think (and I think I said it a month or so ago in this thread).

The ridiculous thing is that even with him in the squad, we still need one or two top level CM players (but like you say its an excuse not to buy)

edit - laughs @ Rooney's "shoulder" injury

He scored 9 in one season at Everton, that was his best year, the year both before and after he managed a single goal for Everton. He had one year he scored 6 in only 11 starts, but made only 11 starts. He's scored 6 both seasons at Arsenal and that is basically at the same level, though likely above average compared to all his seasons at Everton.

Prolific, not even close, as for not the same player, at Everton I think he became less attacking over the course of his time there, he was more the defensive midfielder than attacking midfielder for the last couple of seasons before he joined Arsenal where he plays more defensively for sure but has scored the same amount he was doing at Everton.

He was excellent in his first season, his second season he had a huge slump of form for a bunch of games, but improved without ever matching how well he played in the first season.

Which cheap young players? Ramsey, who everyone knew about, Gervinho/Giroud, strikers who had a big season in france who were neither cheap, particularly young or unheard of. Santos, older, expensive, big wage, well known(to be crap... that one was just everyone but Wenger), Squillaci, Podolski, Arshavin, Santi, Arteta, Monreal, Mertesacker.

Sorry just, which cheap young players no one has heard of is he buying every year. Sanogo, not many people pay attention to the french second division, and he was cheap... but does that make him a typical signing?

For the past 4 years at least our typical signing is a more average player on the back of the best season of their career inflating their prices beyond what they are worth, giving them big wages, who are pretty well known and not very wanted by anyone else.

Gervinho at 12-14mil, Mert at 8mil or so, Santos, Giroud. Typical Wenger in his first 6 years at Arsenal would have bought the likes of Giroud at 18 for 1mil and sold him at 25 for 15-20mil, he's currently doing the exact reverse of what he used to do.

Just a couple for you over the last few days:

Alvaro Vadillo

Omar Abdulrahman

Matthias Ginter

Sebastian Perez Cardona

---

To a certain extent I agree over the last 2-3 years we have been buying players over 25 with more international class, and they have not been very good at all. Thats got to be Wenger fault there. However what I men above is that all the strikers in the market have more or less been bought now bar Rooney and Suarez. We are going to waste our time on Suarez and Wenger is going to have to go out and buy players avialble to us, IE young cheap players who he thinks have potential!

So Spurs complete the signing of Soldado for £26mill, pretty decent signing and hes a good player too...can score as well.

So thats 3 signings Spurs have done already...meanwhile across town Arsenal have only signed an unknown french player who is injury prone :/

So our rivals have already strengthened and if they keep Bale, we can kiss goodbye to 4th spot...get your finger out Wenger and stop wasting valuable time on Suarez. Saying that god knows who we can sign now:(.

Its another Hargreaves situation.

He should have had his contract terminated at the beginning of last season and let go to find his own way.
Instead we will keep paying him week in week out till the end of his contract, for which he will of spent no time at all on the pitch.

In fact, its exactly like the Hargreaves situation, serious medical problem, messing around treating it for year after year, a couple of failed comebacks, and he will end up being released on a free.

Just get rid of him now with a negotiated settlement and be done with it.

Soldado is a solid signing, will fit into spurs well (with or without Bale).

Maybe Arsenal can have Adebayor back? :D

Wengers a bit late in the game, he needs a proven goal scorer (at the top level).

They have missed out on so many targets include Higiuan and Huntelaar...and Remy (maybe)..

Something needs to happen.

I dont like wenger at the best of time, i find he's just a contradiction in a silly coat. But did he really say this current arsenal side can wing the league this year?

He hasnt brought anyone, and he finished 4th last year, why doesnt he think first is more likely now?

putting his arms to the side as if its everyone elses fault he has no options with what to do with the ball.

He doesn't most of the time. He's a good player in my opinion. Holds the ball well, brings others into play well. But he needs players in and around him.

In my opinion, his problem is that nobody quite knows what to do with him. He should be a striker, but doesn't score. He's not a winger. But he can't drop deeper as he's best with his back to goal. If he adds goals to his game, I can see people's opinions changing pretty sharply though.

However, some how Arsenal keep making 4th!

Personally if we dont strengthen then i cant see us with the squad we have, finishing 4th.

Yep he has said it a few times already since they came back from the pre-season tour in the Far east a week or so ago.

Its sad but also hilarious that he honestly thinks we have a squad that can win major trophies or compete for them. Next summer i can see us losing more players because of our lack of ambition and trophies.

Pffft so much for that £70mill that we have sat in our coffers, might as well give that to Wenger when and if he signs a new contract because he quite clearly doesnt want to spend it.

Time for Wenger to go??, he lacks ambition, doesnt spend any money when he has it and sits on his hands wasting too much time on a player who wont be sold to us unless its something stupid ie £50mill plus. If we do have £70mill then might as well throw that to Liverpool and see if they bite seeing as Wenger is desperate to get him into Arsenal, less than a month from the end of the transfer window and we havent spent a single penny:(

LOL no thanks, dont want Adebarndoor back in an Arsenal shirt, mind you he might give us another good season before we sell him again...probably to City:p.

Yep missed out on Higuain and Huntelaar...Remy im not so sure of.

Might as well throw in a bid for Bent for the lulz:p

Yes but they aren't exactly players who play in the core of the midfield. Kagawa is great if he gets the ball in the final third. Young is great if...oh, hang on.

You need somebody who will drive you forward from the middle of the pitch - a Gerrard, Yaya, Fabregas. Someone like that. Your central midfielders are all painfully static.

Also, Kagawa can only play if he has players in and around him. At Dortmund, the whole team bombs on, and he could play his little passes brilliantly. At united last year he'd get the ball, look up, and have maybe two options. He's the sort of player who needs a team to play to his style. Otherwise it's like having Carroll in a team that plays on the ground.

I reckon a surprise MF will be arriving by the end of the month alongside Fellaini.

It sounds harsh but I honestly don't care when Fletcher gets back. Comes across as a fantastic guy going through a horrible situation, but the simple fact is that even before this he wasn't playing well enough to justify his selection and chances are he won't even be that good when he returns. Needs replacing.

Can't understand why any top 4 side would want Fellaini :/
He adds an alternative, a different option for those teams. He's quite a tidy passer, is strong, but he's not strictly a MF, at least not one capable of sitting there and running the show as he constantly wanders up the pitch. I wouldn't be against United signing him, he's a good player, but he's not the answer and shouldn't be a guaranteed starting XI player.
