So, lots outgoing:

Sanchez Watt
Denilson
Andrei Arshavin
Vito Mannone
Sebastien Squillaci
André Santos

And these are only the ones sold not the ones on loan. Gervinho and Chamakh to go in the next 48 hours.

That is a huge amount of wages off the books. What with the Emirates cup being finished now Wenger best pull his finger out. If we fail to bring any big names in I think even the most staunch of Wenger Defenders will struggle to remain happy with him.

I get moaned at when i criticise him and I get moaned at when I try and include him :p

He can't pass, he can't cross, he can barely run with the ball without overhitting it. His contribution on the wing is to run the ball to the corner flag, then turn around shrugging and putting his arms to the side as if its everyone elses fault he has no options with what to do with the ball.

I think you meant to say, his contribution is to kick the ball down the wing, run after it, catch up to it by the flag, attempt to control the ball and usually look a complete plonker, backheel it out, a crap pass, a crap cross or sometimes just falling over.... he's fantastic :p

Thats about the only good thing to happen this summer, getting rid of the deadwood especially Gervinho, who i was a bit surprised is being let go so soon and Chamakh who has been with us for ages now:p.

We need to make a signing or 2 but i feel it wont be happening, Wenger is pretty adamant that the squad we have now is strong enough to challenge and win trophies even though we got ripped a new one by Gala in the Emirates cup. I know it was only a pre-season tournament but if we dont make any signings then i can see us getting torn apart by decent opposition this year.

He consistency under preforms yet all the pundits seem to rate him as the future England No. 9, I hope for all English fans this is not the case or it looks like a few more years before you win another world cup.

He'll sign players, but typical wenger singings. Cheap unheard of young players. He spin some bs about it's not the price tag but the quality on the pitch that matters.

And then we'll finish 4th. I dont know. I am a Wenger supporter as I understand what he has been saying for the last 5 years, but then I do think that I wont be too unhappy when the day comes that he leaves. We do need someone who is more realistic than Wenger. Someone that can see the squad cant win the league and actively does something about it.

Rather than say, without adding anything to the squad we have a team capable of winning the league! Despite all the other teams around us spending big money!

the fact we have sold Gervinho, surely means he is going to go and buy a quality first team striker/ALM? Surely he cant put THAT much faith in Gnabry and Miaychi?

I think the Suarez pursuit is gona cost us. All the other targets have been bought. Whilst we are waiting for players we where never going to sign in the first place.

Please prove me wrong Wenger. We need a striker!

The main issue is, while those guys were taking wages for sure.... not a one of them even played let alone was first team. Wenger will either promote the likes of Gnabry, with a 20-30k a week contract to sit on the bench keeping Arshavins old seat warm, or he'll be looking for "back up" players to sit in those slots most likely, the likes of Sanogo. Its very hard to judge him because for some reason being the second last preseason game(afaik) we decided to play a kid who had been back from holiday for 3 days for almost a full game in which he looked pretty rubbish. A VERY harsh introduction, much like throwing a out for months Eboue on 20 mins into a game for which he had zero match fitness. Why we didn't get Podolski and Giroud one game each over this weekend I don't know.

Ultimately I think Wenger is trying to appease the fans with one big signing in Suarez, and little guys like Sanogo and a few more to follow to fill out the ranks of the team again.

Akpom, Gnabry, Eisfeld(if he isn't already looking to leave) Miyaichi and Frimpong will likely not be on loan this season(neither will they be given a decent chance). Yennaris/Coquelin and the likes are getting older, no game time and deserve to be. A few of those players you listed have also been on loan for a significant amount of time so aren't a huge wage difference from last year.

Don't forget we gave out some big new contracts during the season last year, Walcott, Jenks, Ramsey, Wilshire, Gibbs(iirc), Monreal already essentially replaced Santos in terms of wages. I wouldn't be surprised if all that lot basically cancel out.

However our new sponsorship deals(though not sure if they kick in this season or not) mean a huge amount more cash a year over our previous woeful deals. but ultimately its once again down to who Wenger buys with it. spending more is pointless if you buy people like Santos/Squillaci again, or worthless if you buy someone as good as Arshavin and bench him. Buy 3 great players... but drop one whenever he hits form(Giroud multiple times all year), Podolski(same), or start Diaby/Ramsey/Rosicky when they are fit despite being liabilities in most games even when you have superior players on the bench.

Money isn't and hasn't been the problem at Arsenal in the past 8 years and I can't see those fundamental issues, misusing the squad favouring useless players, arbitrarily dropping our most inform players for his "favourites" and buying worse players than he used to.

Which cheap young players? Ramsey, who everyone knew about, Gervinho/Giroud, strikers who had a big season in france who were neither cheap, particularly young or unheard of. Santos, older, expensive, big wage, well known(to be crap... that one was just everyone but Wenger), Squillaci, Podolski, Arshavin, Santi, Arteta, Monreal, Mertesacker.

Sorry just, which cheap young players no one has heard of is he buying every year. Sanogo, not many people pay attention to the french second division, and he was cheap... but does that make him a typical signing?

For the past 4 years at least our typical signing is a more average player on the back of the best season of their career inflating their prices beyond what they are worth, giving them big wages, who are pretty well known and not very wanted by anyone else.

Gervinho at 12-14mil, Mert at 8mil or so, Santos, Giroud. Typical Wenger in his first 6 years at Arsenal would have bought the likes of Giroud at 18 for 1mil and sold him at 25 for 15-20mil, he's currently doing the exact reverse of what he used to do.

How good a signing would Dzecko be for arsenal?

He's bound to be a bench warmer at City now so he's up for grabs. :)
It actually looks like he is going to be the main striker, he has looked good in pre-season. Pellegrini has said that Dzeko will be the main man.

Negredo will be on the bench I think. I don't know whats happening with Aguero, he hasn't played one minute of pre-season and has trained by himself for all of it.

A guy on the City forums who to be fair to him gets a hell of a lot of information before anyone said before Pellegrini even joined that if he did, Aguero would leave. How true this is I don't know but makes you think when Aguero hasn't been involved at all!

Thats a suprise, didn't expect him to be involved atall..

He is a great player so its good that he's being played, he was incredible at wolfsberg and i hope he does it this season at City.

May an Arsenal move for Aguero then?

PS: Should i tell my Boss negredo is a bench player, as he has him in his fantasy team :)

Id love to have him at Arsenal but it looks like City are going to keep him as their main man so cant see him leaving yet.

Rosicky was one of my favourite players before he moved to England. What went wrong?

Got injured and couldnt get back to full fitness then when he did, he ended up getting injured again. Hes another Diaby as in a walking talking sicknote but when hes fully fit, hes very good. This past season and the season before he had some stonking games for us...in one of the north london derbies a couple of yrs back he singlehandedly won us the game.
