The nearer he gets to the end of his contract the less you will get and when a player wants away and hands in a request their value never goes up does it?

No but he'll still have 2 years on his contract. His value won't halve.

It's a similar situation with Rooney. There's little sense in selling him to Chelsea if all they're offering is £25m. Even with 1 year left on his contract next he's not going to fetch much less than that so why sell him now to a direct rival?

This is the pitiful state of the Arsenal squad.

We get excited when we sign 'international' class players.

when for other teams this kind of thing is bread and butter.

Maybe this guy is good, but still ANOTHER free transfer?

---

Surely they havent scouted this guy out and thought 'YES' this is the guy to take us to another level? This just looks like them filling a space in the squad on the cheap..

This whole Suarez thing is doing my head in. Alright he is a fantastic player, and he would add a lot to the Arsenal attack, but I believe Arsenal would do much better if they spent this money on a midfielder and a defender. I'm happy with Giroud up top, and you can always move Walcott, Sanogo and Podolski there as and when it's needed.

so why would his value half, he currently has 3 years left

And I said in 12-18 months. Good luck getting near 40 million in 18 months keeping a player that doesn't want to be there and is hardly the shining example of dignity to just get on with it if you make him stay.

In 18 months he will have 18 months left. Good luck with the 40m. Hopefully you will make him stay and we can watch to see that price with 18 months left :)

Pointless arguing either way until then.

The thing with Rooney is that if he is on £250,000 a week (as was rumoured), then that's £26m saved over two years (or better spent elsewhere).

Given how he's gone off the boil it could be argued that it would be better to just cut loose for a lower than market value fee.

I agree about the direct rival though. Same with Suarez - if you're expecting to make a rival stronger, charge the earth for them.

According to the papers, Moyes has bid for Fellaini. Brace yourselves boys....

Only the Mirror are reporting it and Roberto Martinez said they've had no bids, so it's pretty unclear at the moment.

I'm waiting to see if Fabregas does this press conference tomorrow.

Spanish press are all reporting that Barcelona have made a bid for David Luiz.

I'm going to go against most others and say that Fellaini is the sort of player that United need in their midfield. It's been lacking some real steel in the past few years. I think people underestimate how good a player he is.

Lets face it, he's an improvement on Anderson.

I wonder if he's always had 'Red Devils' in his Twitter bio or is he causing mischief? 'Red Devils' is also the nickname of the Belgian national team. :p

I will end David Moyes if the only signing we make this year is an overpriced move for Fellaini. His release clause is 22m odd but I thought that was only till the 1st of august.

I think that you answered your own question there, I think that Fellaini would be a good signing but he is quite a step down from their first choice of Fabregas.

I don't think that most of us would be against having him but if he is our only signing that is a joke. We need CL quality players not players that will not play in the CL because they are sent off the whole time.
