He didn't even cost £10m, that was the price with £5m up front but Southampton needed money ASAP. I believe we done a deal where we would pay another £2m straight away instead of 5 now and 5 later.

From a BBC article posted the other day Southampton get less than 1m Stirling from the Bale deal

( its somehow related to when they were in deep financial mess a few years ago)
