Hilarious reading some of the snidey little comments about arsenal buying Ozil for £42mill...guess the ones making those comments have something to worry about this season ;):p

Never even heard of Herrera - let alone for £30m!?!? :eek:

Just checked wiki, 2 goals in 61 appearances for Bilbao since 2011 - I know he's not a striker but that's Welbeck territory!! :D
 
So for a season where all our main competitors have strengthend quite considerably....we have bought no one and we still have a mid table midfield : /
 
Not particularly happy with the Ozil deal, as although I rate him as a player other areas of the team needed strengthening much more. IMO £42.4m would easily have been enough to secure Jagielka & Bent.

Had we spent say £12m on Eriksen then I'd have been OK with it as his value will only increase and not a huge outlay, whereas Ozil is going to have to come in and perform from day 1 with this massive millstone around his neck, joining mid-season in a new league speaking a different language etc.

His value can only drop and I'd say his pricetag could result in him being regarded as a flop (think Juan Veron) unless he rips up the EPL.

Ironically I think he'd have been a much better buy for MU as he is the type of player they need, Arsenal not so much.
