Some particularly sad/depressing songs selected by some people here - not really my definition of 'summer' tracks - especially OCS - The Circle & Stereophonics - Local Boy in the Photograph.

The Circle?! Have you listened to the lyrics?! It's about always being an outsider, about never fit ting in & always moving on trying to find somewhere that you do - not what I'd call summery really but that's my point of view as an ardent OCS fan. I'd recommend the acoustic version 'Outside of a Circle' for a true reading of the song. & Local Boy - a lament about a friend who was found dead & naked on a railway line?! Great(!). Both great songs, undoubtedly but not my definition of 'summery'.

Sorry, rant over :o Back OT:

Ocean Colour Scene - The Day We Caught The Train, Up On The Downside
Idlewild - When I Argue I See Shapes

British Sea Power - Remember Me (particularly as it brings back memories of sitting in a traffic jam on a warm August friday afternoon blaring it out of the car annoying those around me & a mate.)

Goldrush - Wide Open Sky (good call Arcade Fire but this shades it for me)
The Music - Getaway, The Truth Is No Words, The People
Doves - Pounding, There Goes The Fear
Delays - Long Time Coming, Nearer Than Heaven
Joyrider - Rush Hour
Manics - Take The Skinheads Bowling (purely for the whole nonsense value of the lyrics :D)
Shack - Natalie's Party, Comedy, Lend's Some Dough
The Wildhearts - I Wanna Go Where The People Go

Summer Madness (Vice City Theme) - Kool & The Gang :D
^^ The ultimate uber chillout summer anthem IMO.

The Game Of Love (ft Michelle Branch) - Santana
^^ Also ******* excellent. Features Santana's happy-slappy-summer-style air guitar.

Digital Love - Daft Punk
^^ Awesome if you're into club/trance etc.

Surf Rider - The Lively Ones
^^ Pulp Fiction

You Get What You Give - Radicals
My Ever Changing Moods - Style Council
Inner Smile - Texas

Doin' Time - Sublime
^^ For the potheads.

Not the best songs ever but defo summer ones.

That was me. I'm aware of the song's content, but it doesn't have to be the lyrics that make it a summery song - I bought that album in the summer and listened to it non-stop and it kind of defined the time. It's fairly upbeat music-wise though and reminds me of going to meet my friends and drinking in the sun. "The sunshine pours like wine through the window". Brilliant.

Like you say though, it's only based on your point of view. I also suggested the whole of 100% Colombian which contains at least one song about murder, the feeling I get from the music though is of suffocating sunshine; a shirt-stuck-to-your-back heatwave. If it reminds you of summer it's still valid in the context of the thread.

Without sound - Cantific & Tactile

Inside My soul - Logistics

Genrally any Drum and bass of this ilk, just really cool to listen to especially in the car with the windows down on a hot summers day :D

Also find Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are particular favourites during the summer, last summer though With Teeth by NiN was my most played album.
