Sunburn

Being as I was TRYING to get some sun on my body, a T-shirt really wouldn't have helped much.
I wasn't gardening or anything. I went out there and led on the lawn on a beach towel for a couple of hours.

Ah skin cancer. Nothing beats it. Literally.

Ah skin cancer. Nothing beats it. Literally.

I'm more likely to get cancer from the petrol, diesel, engine oil, brake cleaner, carb cleaner and rubber I am constantly immersed in at work, than a bit of April midday sunshine.
Oh, then there's the power lines I live next to as well, everything has an OMG cancer warning attached to it these days. Just live your life and get on with it I say, you're going to be dead one day anyway.

Then as Nitefly says below there are people who pile on the suncream because all the adverts say "Must protect your skin from harmful sun rays"

Let me see, lets apply some...
Dicaprylyl meleate
Bis-diglyceryl caprylate / caprate / isotstearate / stearate / hydrostearate adipate
Butylene glycol
methooxydibenzoylmethane
Benzophenone-3
C18-36 acid glycol esther
Octylmethoxycinnamate
Tetrahdroxypropylethylenediamine
Ceteareth-2 phosphate
Prunus dulcis
Cetyl alcohol
Acrylates C10-30 alky acrylate crosspolymer
Methylparaben
Tetrasodium EDTA
Tocopheryl acetate
Propylparaben BHT
Dimethyloxazolidine
and finally Citric acid.

I think I'll take my chances with the sunshine matey. ;)

I said a little bit of sun..
I don't mean I'm going to be roasting under it until I turn into Mr Crispy.
Like everything in life, moderation is the key, so you can get off your soap box now.

I find that sunblock just makes my skin really greasy so I always avoid putting it on my face.

What works for me is to not wear sunblock and deliberately avoiding spending more than half an hour in the sun (although to wear lotion if this is unavoidable). It seems to be a good way of easing in to tanned skin without that horrible greasy feeling.

Yeah, I realised that... ;)

Still, just wear a t-shirt at all times :p

I really can't understand how people just spend hours laying in the sun, does it not get boring?

Go out and excercise or something, far more fun and you get just as much sun!:D

OP, if I ever get sunburn I find that putting cut-up tomatoes from the fridge on my skin is good. Cooling and also they have vitamins in which are good for your skin.

Also natural yoghurt is really good for soothing.

Used to get burnt a lot when I was around 16/17 and was trying to get a tan in spite of the fact that I'm very fair. Now I've come to terms with my pasty-ness and wear sun cream!

Was only out in the sun for half hour and now I'm as red as a beetroot:(

Anyone else suffer from it really easily? And what do you do to help?

I have some aftersun but doesn't really do anything.

(No I'm not a ginger)

Aloe Vera Gel

Its a Toxic Green colour but its the best thing ive ever used. If you can get the Avon Brand one:cool:

You guys have been lucky to have the sun! Up here we get four seasons in one day! Having said that, maybe this is the week for a few rays - seems quite nice at the mo anyway.

As for burn, apply Aloe Vera works a treat, as zip has already mentioned. It instantly takes away that sharp crispy-burnt sensation. :)
