Sunroof on an E92? Yey or nay?

I miss the sunroof in the Skivvic. Allowed me to have a good old gurn when stuck in a traffic jam.

Other than the fact its a 2.0 4 pot in a car that really should have a proper engine, you mean?

Base engine BMW's make the baby jesus sad. Are you just after the badge or something? :(

The E92 is offered with some of the worlds finest engines - it has no less than 3 Engine of the Year shortlist engines available including two winners. It would be criminal not to choose one, are you just interested in some flash or something? :(

Basically I want to upgrade and as I say I'm not bothered at all about performance at the end of the day. I'm sorry if it goes against the general consensus.

So buy a boring car then. Don't buy a performance coupe without the performance.

What about a nice Honda?

I wasn't denying that AC is very effective at cooling a car down. But having to first sit inside a car which has had no ventilation feels like stepping into a sauna and then sitting on burning leather is no fun either. While an open sun-roof doesn't completely eliminate this, it helps a lot..

Burning leather from the direct sunlight through the roof?

I'm very glad I have a sunroof in my Leon as my AC compressor broken and I can just about live with it thanks to the sunroof.
The downside is that it rattles like a bitch.

My dad's always gone for CC over a roof as they're usually the same price, but my mum always wants a sunroof even though it's rarely fully open
With light interiors I don't think it makes that much difference, but it's quite nice to have if you have anthracite headlining.
Having said that, panoramic ones are probably worth the extra regardless..

As for the OP, get it. Sun roofs are quite rare so you might as well if you like the rest of the car.

Why cant he have a BMW with a 2.0? My god I knew you were a self righteous prat, but not to this extent, jeez. The E92 isnt a performance coupe at all, its a coupe with a range of engines to suit different people and this engine suits him. How do you get through life without people hating you I just can't fathom

I might be hugely opinionated but at least I don't resort to calling people names over the internet :) If you get that angry and twisted about people ranting about cars I really think you should chill a bit.

If you are going to spend £20,000+ on an E92 you might as well get the one with the lovely smooth engine. It's not even all about the performance - a 325i will be smooth, refined and suit the car perfectly. It will also be reasonably economical. The 2.0 4 pot doesnt suit him nor does it suit the car. It is not one of BMW's better engines at all. I think I'd even have the 2.0d over it, it suits nobody.

The 325i even does 40mpg on the combined cycle. It's a great choice for the non performance minded driver.

Fox, it's OK, if he buys the 2.0 it will leave the better engines for those who appreciate it.

Nope, ruins the look of the roof IMO, that applies to any car. Totally useless thing to have anyway, I have one and it just doesn't ever get used, I wish it wasn't there.

I didn't think I'd ever miss a sunroof, however when I had the RX8 for a weekend, I absolutely loved having one again.

I'd say it was a pro of the car rather than a con.
