SupCom worth getting?

Thanx a lot this thread has made me go and buy a copy:mad::D
Some of the pics ive seen of this game are just awesome, with huge battles. But its got me thinking do you really end up having battles like that or is it the developers just posing pics like that??

Also i heard that the game is very demanding, do i need to worry?

Also i heard the ai is dumb, should i just put up with it for a while as im a beginner?
 
I recently reinstalled this after not really getting on with it the first time. With fresh eyes I'm really enjoying it. Currently I'm ususing the 'out of the box' version. Where's the best place for updates?
 
SupCom is great, very much worth getting, make sure you patch asap as earlier versions ate PC resources. Not that patched versions don't, they just don't make such a meal of it.

SupCom was one of the reasons I bought a 30" LCD.
 
In regards to the AI, your main Commander AI seems to be a bit thick in regards to pathing although that maybe my mistake. Several times last night I noticed him taking the long route to get to a destination ala C&C Harvester style.

The battles are indeed epic if last night was anything to go by. At one point I had 3x UFO's heading towards my SAM sites and the noise was madness, then I sent over two battleships and their cannons just go BOOM.

So far the UI annoys me, its a fat git similar to AoE III's UI in size. Apparently the FA expansion that I never purchased sorts that out.

Also my secondary adapter option is grayed out? I have a second screen (32" HDTV) and have it setup for dual screen use in Vista without issues.

That was the final nail on the coffin the first time I played SC. While still annoying I can deal with it.

If FA sorts that out I'm purchasing it tomorrow!
 
Had a quick blast the other night on setons clutch, love that map. Couldnt get online tho :( may just do a re-install again if anyones up for a match or two. (for fun, im carp)
 
And don't forget I think were going to have a friendly OCUK game next sunday (with expansion)! I'm sure we'll have a dedicated thread up soon :).
 
Yeah, GPGNet program has something called the Vault. Not an exhaustive list of mods etc. as not everyone puts theirs up, but still a pretty complete list. It also negates having to fiddle around installing them, does it for you :)
 
Bought SupCom and FA off impulse last night, as well as the new sins expansion. Had a small game of Entrenchment with Bakes, when I say small I mean at least 2 hours long.

Hoping to get a game of FA going today sometime. Total noob here of course, I jumped on without the expansion as it was still downloading. Had a mess around with the UEF getting to know the build order etc. I think me and Bakes are planning to have a game sometime today vs computer or we could arrange a 2v2 with people on here.
 
Just bought FA last night :o So that's £14 for SC, and £25 for FA. Grrr

Had another epic game with a mate last night lasting uptil 01:00. We built up our bases side by side and in terms of score, leaped over our 2 AI opponents so I got bored and begun building shields all over the base.

Then the Nuke warning sounded and I found half my base missing. Then we got angry and sent over all our experimental units and it was game over for them. Apparently FA has adaptive AI which would have been better.
