Super-Cheap car needed!

It's asking to be mentioned. Probably the cheapest bangertastic car money can buy - the Cavalier!

The 1.6 8v, 1.8 8v and 2.0 8v variants are suitable, with the 2.0 8v being exceptionally economical for it's size. Not very cheap to insure (Group 10), but will be pretty nice and reliable for virtually no money :)

how many cars... how many accidents?!

2 Accidents, only damaged 1 other car. No claims though. :)

My last accident was over a year ago, I had no problems with my (quicker than the rover) 205.

Well, due to my unfortunate...incident with the Rover, it is no more :(

Luckily, i can cycle to work as its only a couple of miles. However, soon enough I'll need to get back on the road, so i'm looking for a super cheap car!

Something like my old 205 Diesel would be ideal, but i don't have that any more :(

So..suggestions? preferably in the £300 or below price range, and i'd prefer a petrol car over a diesel. Insurance isn't really a problem on small engined, small cars :)

Thanks!

There's a guy about 10 houses up from me selling a black Mk1 MR2 for 300 sheets. Just needs about 2 inches of welding to get it through it's MOT or so he told me yesterday.

I'd thought about a mk1 MR2 as well, i'll put it on the list :D

The Vauxhall Chavalier was a good suggestion I think...

Its on the list - I looked at them a year or so ago, plus my family used to have one so i've got a general idea of what to look for.

One of the best pics of the bunch would be a late 2.0 GLSi, although they would fetch a premium (If you could call it that) over the others. The 8v engine is excellent and provides an early torque hit that makes them easy to drive. Combine that with a slightly stiffer suspension setup, good fuel economy, ABS and a fair set of electrics and you have yourself a bargain. If the 2.0 is too much, the 1.8's aren't a bad drive. I bumbled around in a 1.8 LS for a while and found the boat like handling... entertaining!
