This type of single-molecule magnet (SMM) has the potential to increase data storage capacity by many hundreds, even thousands of times—as a result huge volumes of data could be stored in tiny places.

Data Centre levels of storage in the size of a normal HDD? Yes please! data integrity/security would be something this can be useful for maybe.

Data recovery might be a lot easier too

Doesn't work at room temperature and uses radioactive material, nice.

Might be useful on satellites.

I'm not worried about it being harmful to users, U238 has a half life of 4.5 billion years but if you have 10^16-10^17 bits you will expect a few of the atoms to decay over a year, potentially corrupting data.

There is no way to stop atoms undergoing radioactive decay (it can be speeded up but by the by).
