super help need super quick ;)

hey guys

i have removed a hard drive form a friends computer and now after i have put it in again it won't boot,

i have taken the hard drive to mine and boot as slave and shows up there just can't boot form it has anyone got any idea in what this could be

i know this is posted twice i just need the help super quick

Go into the bios then go to the boot tab. Check that the bios is set to boot from the hard drive.

done that and it is set to boot from the hard drive, on mine it flashes a blue screen but on his machine just does nothing

I'm guessing the pc is not a custom built one, or if it is, it has an OEM version of the OS on it?

i think it's an oem version but the thing is that all i did was change the case around :S, so it like WTF is goign on here

and yes it is an oem machine compaq

Hm i'm not too sure but atleast thats why it gives a blue screen on your computer. I'm not sure where else I can help you on that i'm afraid, sorry :confused:

i know it bad so i'm going to have to lend him my gaming rig :'(, but never mind i will figure it out, but all i did was swap cases

Some info would be handy.....

is it a sata ide drive / have you use the same cables ? Plugged into the same places ? Definitely?

Have you added another drive ? When you plugged in to your rig is there achance you may have adjusted something? Did you run any software on it? Press F12 / del etc to get into the bios and check the setting.

What is actually happening? Is it saying insert boot disk NTLDR not found?

Have you got it plugged into the correct port on theide cable?

been awhile since i used ide but i seem to remember there were master and slave settngs.

maybe check the jumper hasn't slipped off or just come loose a little bit as that would explan things

if it 'does not boot' why would a format job fix it? As already mentioned above more info is needed.
