Super PI Scores! AMD vs Intel

its all about memory speed. i got a faster super pi running my memory at 228mhz and core at 2740mhz (1m 30.986s) than currently 31.447 with ram at 194mhz but slighty quicker timings.

Yhe your right, if you have your memory on a divider with tight timings your guna loose a lot of bandwidth so get a naff PI time.

Because of this pentiums have a larger bandwidth because they work on that factor rather than speed comings from the memory timings. So its hard to compare the two CPU types.

Pentium D830 @ 3.6GHz, 2GB PC5300 667 RAM
1Mpi @ 37 sec :D

Although this one is just werid and doesnt fit :p

P4e @ 4.3Ghz ram @ 1:1 31seconds spi 1M

Yonah is silly fast and so is the nerwer mobile one thats 20% faster than Yonah but nowt is gonna catch Conroe...AMD boys now is time to give in

Most people arent "AMD boys" as such, they just know whats the best performance around. :).

Conroe is looking awesome, cant wait for it myself!!

33 seconds for 4400 @ 2.5ghz roughly in the right range, although by "MeatLoaf" posts his is slightly faster CPU but much lower score (due to CAS 3) I have mine set at 2.5

conroe looks very good but i want to see game performance. the super pi on that cpu is going to be fast because of its high bandwidth ram and lots of on die cache.

i think AM2 will show a good increase in super pi scores for AMD.

but if conroe is really as fast as it seems then all the better for everyone.

35 seconds with my Venice @ 2.5ghz

Would be 32-33 if I could run my memory 1:1

I got the same Ram as you and its @ 1:1, try putting my timings on and going from there ;)

Time in sig btw,

Pentium Prescott 3.6 ( 660 ) Samsung PC3200 RAM @ Stock = 35s
Newcastle 3000 @ 2.4 ( Corsair 4400 ) = 35s
NewCaslte @ 2.8 = 30s ( unstable )
ClawHammer 3700 @ stock ( OCZ RAM ) = 34s

Will give you more as I can not be bothered right now cos its late.

Pentium Prescott 3.6 ( 560J ) overclocked to 4400 + Corsair Ballistix RAM @ Stock = 31.11s

as someone posted earlier, that super pi is about timings. will tight timings win over speed? if i dropped my memory speed and tightened the timings would this make much difference to my pc?

EDIT: i use my pc for encoding dvd's and general pc use.
