Superbowl car commercials

I guess the Superbowl will have the biggest single channel viewing figures and thus has the most valuable add break because the vast majority of its viewers are in the US.

Something like the World Cup will no-doubtable have much higher viewing figures however they are distributed around the globe through numerous different channels and as such the number of viewers seeing any one advert would be lower.

As for 'greatest' that's totally subjective and trying to quantify it in any way is laughable, personally I'd say Tiddlywinks is by far the greatest competitive sport, for one its not ruined by excessive wages and cynical cooperate sponsorships.

Super unimpressed by the Ferris Bueller one.

Maybe if it had been an ad announcing the S2000's replacement or something... but it just wasn't that funny or clever which is odd for Honda.

I thought it was ok, but it's a shame that it's advertising such a stupendously dull car.

People are too poor and society too stingy to play American football,

Wrong, it's because it's a hugely crap game. 15 seconds of men in padded armour running around and then it all stops for what seems like ages. Bit like a county cricket match in fact. That said "proper" football is just as crap.

Just because you don't understand the game doesn't make it rubbish, tell that to the 10's of millions of people who watch every game, NFL is gaining momentium in the UK, for such a 'rubbish' game i wish i was involved the sums of money in hand are VAST.

People are too poor and society too stingy to play American football, it has nothing to do with the merits of the game, more of the ease of access and cheapness to play. If both sports cost the same amount to play, American Football would be way more popular. Soccer is a game for wimpy men who are afraid of physical confrontation, sorry to break it to you, now seen as sport is a clear replacement for physical confrontation, Soccer falls flat. American football comes as close to it as a ball game can, Rugby comes close as well, ergo they are better sports.

The whole world is not too poor to play american football. Many places are as rich if not richer than the US and don't play the game. It's not even the the popular game in America.

I so miss the Super Bowl = (

Is a great time for friends and families gathering, sunday bbq and alcohol = )

American Football, where you get a few seconds of running followed by five minutes of standing around, rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

To say that it's only less popular because it's expensive only explains those that don't play it because they can't afford to. To say that people that don't like it only dislike it because they don't understand it ignores those that understand it and still hate it.

It's a crap game.

The playbook / rulebook are actually quite large and a reasonable read, the vast majority of people in the UK who don't like NFL won't understand the game, they've simply gone down the same route of gross simplification as you and ruled it out as something they could possibly like.

A massive rule book does not make up for nothing whatsoever happening for 80% of the game. Otherwise maybe I should invent a sport that's incredibly complicated but involves approximately 5 seconds of action and three hours of standing around, then tell everyone that dislikes it that they only dislike it because they haven't read the rules.

I've come to the conclusion that rugby union is in fact the best sport on the planet after watching Ireland v Wales yesterday.

Bit like F1 then :p

After you've understood the 'basics' it makes the game much more enjoyable to watch, granted no sporting event will be universally loved however it does annoy me how people slate NFL when they really don't understand the game at all.

Yes, rugby is most enjoyable :)

Greatest sporting game event of the year requires the best ads and no wimpy soccer players would have the talent or physical ability to get any where near it, heaven.

Yeh they are so hard they require massive padding and helmets like little children come back when you have seen some rugby.

Yawn, the hits in NFL are huge vs Rugby.

NFL - Average contact per game: Average tackles per game per player: 4 with highest recorded at 4600lbs (by sports science).

Rugby - Average tackles per game per player: 16 - Average hit impact: 1600lbs. of force (recorded from members of the LA rugby team by sports science)
