I'm probably going to buy one of these tomorrow, but having never owned a Superdry coat before, I'm just wondering whether they're as warm as they're priced up to be.

Anyone who has one, could you please let me know what you think of it?

So we've established that they're too popular for anyone here to want to buy them.

I'm not buying it because it says Superdry on...I'm really not interested in brand names. What I am interested in is buying a decent and warm coat, so I appreciate people's comments that are actually on topic, thanks.

I had a look at Berghaus and North Face and they're both way way too expensive. I've not going hiking or anything, just get bloody cold when I'm going to the pub.

Perhaps what the OP needs is... a technical jacket.

I had to look that up. Technical jackets look a bit functional :p

I dunno what kind of reputation they have generally but I've found Urban Classics a good balance of value and quality (long lasting/warm/waterproof) for money - not cheap though - but don't have the markup of North Face or the pricing of brands like Canada Goose. (Obviously not going to be using them for stuff where you actually need the technical abilities of the top end gear).

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look, although their website is relatively useless.

What size would you normally be in jackets?

Superdry are REALLY small in my experience. Its like me putting a girls jacket on, I literally cant move in any of their medium-large jackets. Its gotta be like XXL or something to fit me.

I'm normally medium or large. I'm going to the shop so I'll just try some on to make sure they're alright.

Thanks mrk, I trust your opinion.

I have one and I definitely wouldn't wear it out in this weather now, it's far too cold to be wearing a Superdry jacket. I'm not quite sure why Superdry jackets have the word 'dry' in, because I find they let in anything more than a drizzle.

I'll ask them how waterproof the jacket actually is. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't, and I''m going to hold onto the receipt just in case because that'd be a serious design flaw if it does just let water in!!

To whoever mentioned fred perry etc...that is definitely not me!

I just went to the shop to have a look at them. That one I was after isn't actually in shops yet, only online it seems.

I had a look at some others though. I'm a large, and comfortably so, which is good! I'm not keen on the crinkly material on the outside, although I did see a similar one which had a soft kind of outside, which was alright. The lining seemed a bit thin in the one I tried on, but it was a kind of lesser version of the one in the OP. The number of zips is absolutely mental. There's 3 and they go up and down. Nuts!!

New plan is to just go shopping on Sunday and see what I find.

No no! I wouldn't be caught dead in a quilted one!! It's the standard fabric they seem to use on their coats, and it crinkles when you touch it. It's some sort of windproof stuff.

From what I saw earlier, they are better quality than something you'd get from Asda. I was perfectly happy with the quality, just not sure how warm it would be in the end without seeing the actual one that I want.

I wasn't asking for fashion advice. I was asking for advice on whether they're warm or not, because you can't tell that properly until you actually wear them outside. As far as I know, Superdry do not have a market stall.

To be fair, everyone has different tolerances for heat so someone could say its warm and others not. Unlikely to get your answer either way.

Hah that's true, but if everyone came in and said, they're **** I feel colder wearing one than when I'm outside in my birthday suit, that would have given me a good impression of how good they were :p

Update:

I bought the Superdry Windbomber. It just wasn't very warm at all, unfortunately. I have taken it back and procured a new coat from Asos, which should be arriving today.

Be warned, Superdry have a retarded returns policy. If there's no defect with the coat and it was purchased in store, they will give you a bloody credit note! I'm never going in there again, so **** the credit note.

They do seem to have nice jumpers, though.
