Supermarket Etiquette

'Would you like any help packing'?

'No thanks, I'm sure I can manage a loaf of bread and a carton of milk'.

Why?

Probably ordered to ask, much like the greasy muppets at McDonalds when they ask "Do you want fries with that?" It takes a lot of will power not to say back "No, if I wanted fries I'd have bloody ordered them wouldn't I?"

Or the Indian call centre staff who ask if there is anything else they can help you with. I just put the phone down.

Back on topic - those massive revolving doors

People who start to unload their trolley onto the conveyor belt (ALDI) before I have finished unloading my trolley onto the belt. Twice this has happened now.

Sounds like you lost the game the moment you let other peoples tardiness get to you in the supermarket :p

What annoys me the most, is the jobless scum in there at lunch time spending their benefits on the cheap range foods for their kids then the premium booze for themselves, holding up the people who only have a set time for their lunch breaks.

Second poster didn't hold back :D

Retired people should be banned on the weekends, they have all week to go shopping, and those of us that work full time dont, so why oh why do they decide to go on a Saturday or Sunday, and then faff!

Ageism is rife, as it still is (who had all the pies) even on the cusp of a financial meltdown. You can tell it is before supermarket delivery anyway. Old people shop, youngsters drop.

Your items are getting fired back out again as soon as they reach the cashier, no bodies got time to wait for you to finish so they meet the same fate!

I don't get you? I'm on about when I empty my trolley onto the conveyor belt before the staffer has started scanning my stuff. While I'm still emptying my trolley onto the belt, some other person came up behind me and started loading their stuff onto the belt also, therefore not leaving me enough space to finish emptying my trolley onto the belt.

I'm fully aware how the ALDI checkout system works after it's been scanned - straight back into the trolley and pack at the window bench, or do like I do and pack at the boot of the car.

I quite happily pack my bags at the checkout at LIDL/ALDI :p

(I do so fairly speedily though)

Or the people who have child seats, and no child with them, but thinks it is like some sort of permit to park there anyway...

I have seriously considered writing a big rant on a piece of paper, standing outside a supermarket all day long and putting it under the wiper of everyone who parks in disabled / family bays informing them of how inconsiderate it is.

The thought of one of them giving me a smack in the mouth as a result puts me off quite a bit though.

There have been several occasions where I have arrived at a supermarket sans child and still parked in the parent bays. On those occasions I have been meeting a friend/family member who has been looking after my child for the day & I am collecting my child from them.

What irks me is that there are very few parent bays at my local supermarket & about 5 times as many disabled bays yet you still get blue badge holders parking in the parent bays rather than one of the 20+ empty BB bays because they're closer to the exit doors. They're the first to scream and shout if parents park in BB bays

Works fine with some pre-planning of the conveyer belt loading.

If you've got a huge trolley full of stuff that actually takes up the whole length of the belt then you can't pre-plan your loading if you have to end up piling stuff on top of stuff cause some moron behind you started emptying their trolley also.

it actually seems worse now with people wearing masks, like people must think they're some sort of disguise/shield and are even more inconsiderate!
that might just be my imagination, but I don't think so :p

I go in with a belly of food and/or good mood because these sorts of issues make me want to shoot the place up with a mac-10 on bad day. We now use delivery since Covid, 80% of the time.

The shelf blocker is the most annoying for me.

I know what item I want, but just can’t get to it, and they seem to take about 10 minutes to get what they need off the shelf….
