supplements, herbs and the like

Maybe I should pee in something and tell them to drink it. It's natural!

I've got a friend who drinks his own pee each morning as he believes it to be good for him. He might even buy it off you if your source is good.

He is a bit strange really but in good health.

Usually I take the following daily (as does the wife )...
1 x 500mg of Alpha-GPC.
1 x Source Naturals Acetyl L Carnitine 500mg & Alpha Lipoic Acid 50mg
1 x High strength Cod Liver oil
1 x Solgar B Complex 50's
1 x Magnesium + Calcium

Also rotate 30-60 grams of protein per day with some nootropics every 7-8 days.

And anyone who says a balanced diet can achieve the benefits of the top two supplements alone....well I urge you to try them out for 2 weeks and come back to me ;) Not only will you feel a million times better, with more concentration / energy and stamina - you will be wondering why you haven't heard of them before ...

That's right - you go google them now :)

I think this is the problem, people see the likes of Kai/Freefaller (even kai's pee is sponsored  ) knocking back supplements and think hey look at how they look I should take them. Unfortunately without the effort in the gym most just get expensive pee.

I don't "knock 'em back" - I take them in a well thought out and carefully planned manner :) However, they do have their uses, in our poor western diets. Now I happen to eat fish pretty much every day, and get 6-7 of my "5 a day" and make the effort to train hard, learn about nutrition etc... but also understand that SOME supplementation, used in moderation and with correct knowledge can help improve general health.

Taking supps for the sake of taking them is pointless and a waste of money. I spend less than £200 a year on supplementation, and that includes whey protein. I much prefer eating a proper well rounded diet. However, as I've said before, they have their place, if used with knowledge. :)

multi vitamins and codliver oil.

only because my diet is a bit sketchy at times and they're dirt cheap so may as well

what fish do you eat every day that isn't prohibitively expensive?

I only buy protein when the guy at work gets it off the back of a lorry :p 30 quid for 5kg of myprotiens finest :p

I'm thinking that after my recent slump and thus complete absence of gym work/routine/diet or regular food i should get back into it properly if anything just to have some really solid ridged structure to my life ( i can't describe how beneficial that actually is to my mood, even down to set clothes :p) but i can never actually get the initial part done.

I need someone to work out a set of meals i can eat every day reasonably cheap that hits all requirements then bash the gym in a set routine. might make a log if i can get the set up done

ie a monday menu/ tuesday menu. like they have in the canteens :p

Not really expensive at all. Ultimately a good healthy lifestyle is priceless really, can you afford NOT to buy good foods? I tend to keep away from heavily refined and process foods so plan my life around it. :)

I have smoked mackerel for breakfast every morning. Plus for dinner we'll have salmon, or sea bass/trout/salmon/haddock or some form of fish at least a couple of times a week too. :)

I cook all my lunches too, and do have a good structured routine in my life, which as you say does help keep you sane/better mood and also I have a lot more energy as a result. :)

I take multi-vits and flaxseed oil every day. If I don't take the flaxseed my right ankle makes an audible "ping" when I walk. Has done ever since I twisted it playing football when I was about 20. If I miss the flaxseed for a few days in a row, it starts up. Doesn't do it at all so long as I take it most days.

When I used to do a lot of cycling daily and some weight lifting, taking Glucosamine Sulphate for joint care as well as multivitamins made quite a big difference. If you have joint problems then it's worth a try.

I supplement my diet with coconut oil in my coffee, fish oils with my meals, and multi vitamins.

With my back, I found fish oils and glucosamine sulphate really helped. I just buy the biggest tub for the cheapest price when it comes to omega 3, and glucosamine sulphate.

Taking supplements won't make you look like kai. In fact it's rather disrespectful saying that, he trained very hard to attain his physique, not many people are cut out for that kind of training. Same with people who think injecting steroids turn you into a huge tank whilst doing nothing, they may be illegal and not natural but you still have to train very hard.
