*** Supreme Commander 2 ***

The last RTS I played online was AoE2 Conquerers. I've rarely played since then because just as with FPS's, RTS multi is full of complete plebs. I've always preferred the single player stuff, which C&C always excels in. Supcom/FA/SC2 single player makes me want to strangle gerbils.

The good thing I guess is that SupCom and SC: FA will age really well, I mean maybe in a few years we will have enough CPU power to alleviate the slow sim speed problems seen today.

I tried this earlier but the demo didn't seem to work, I could only see water and a blue robot on the screen? Not had problems running any other games

I have the same problem, no ground textures all you can see is the water and the commander, and if you move the camera you get black texture tearing.

I tried updating graphics drivers, and re-installing the demo; no luck.
Running: 8800GT

i downloaded the demo last night and tried it out - wasn't really impressed. what's with the garish colours of each faction? bright blue vs yellow? i also built the experimental aircraft carrier expecting to be amazed but it looked like a blue square surrounded by other long thin things (my subs).

pathfinding is all a bit bizarre - everything bumps into each other and the planes seem to forget that they were supposed to be guarding stuff and end up just sitting there doing nothing. i might buy it when it's cheap but I won't bother at full price.

Im not sure i understand the graphics comments the terrain water and units do look good, i suppose the units could be a tad better but its not bad by a long shot. Cant wait for it to get unlocked on steam so i can have a proper game.

This will be another one I try at a gaming center before buying. Demo left me feeling a bit let down...

Trying to get my hands on a copy of the original now :) neither of them are better than TA.

I agree. Played through the demo and my only thoughts on it are - MEH!.

The demo was a lot more fun than C&C3, but I can't say it's made me want to buy the game. However, it has made me want to download the original & FA from D2D, where I bought the pair for a fiver as part of their 5th birthday sale.

SupCom1 had reached the limits of the game engine(and pc limits). There was no more room to add exta units/races, only way they could do SupCom2 was a clean slate. Hopefully with the new minimalistic style there will be a lot of head room for updates/expantions. Sometimes you have to take a step back, before you can go foward again.

Main thing is that its still fun to play, only few hours now till it unlocks on steam :).

Cant believe Impulse has re-released TA with the EXPANSIONS! :D. Thats awesome.

Anyone know if this has got updated multiplayer options to make matchmaking up to 2010 standards?

My pre-order arrived this morning along with Battlefield Bad Company 2. Afraid it's second in the install list but it's here all the same!

TA is worth more then that ;) but then I have the original cd roms still
still a class game

can't wait for sc2 to unlock but won't have to much time with bf2 bc2 out this week as well ;/

Apparently you still have to download the full game again so the disc makes no difference you have a 4.7gig download to do anyway regardless of disc or pure steam purchase.

..really? seems rather pointless to do a DVD release at all if that were the case.. Why not just give people a bit of paper in a box that has the game code or something to that effect.. Surely there's -something- useful on the DVD :p

You should be able to install from DVD, im sure i read something about it on steam SC2 forums. Might not be stright foward to do tho lol.
