*** Supreme Commander 2 ***

Decided to load up Forged Alliance. My first mission, a good couple of 100 buildings, a 100 Amphibious Assault Bots and 100 Air/Naval units, a huge unlimited range artillery gun (<3) and a giant push forwards with every available unit onto the mainland to set up a front base.

Why did they change from this resource system? If you had difficulty understanding it i can only assume you need to go back to school. Managing my Mass/Energy by occasionally having to switch my Fabricators off is part of the game.

Perhaps that speaks to the intelligence level of the average gamer. ;) *glances at Halo and the Xbox 360*

I've gone back to FA as well. Grabbed a couple of mods to freshen it up with some new units etc.

well i finished the demo last night, and i have to admit it grew on me quite a bit. I learnt how to queue things as well and the difficulty was balanced just right.

Also what was unusal in a SP game the opposition lost the plot and rushed me!! Nice little suprise there and caught me off gaurd as i never saw that before,

usually in RTS the enemy is hunkered down like a limpit

Played tutorial and 1st 2 campain missions. Will do last bit when i get time tonight.

Good impresion so far, tech tree will make for some intresting tactical choices early game, and it still uses both metal and energy resorces so no change there.

Cant comment on graphics as im stuck in 1024x768 on a 28" sceen lol, need to send my monitor in for repairs, doesnt hold its native 1900x1200 anymore :(.

Note on campain, you cant just hold back and build your forces up endlessly anymore. If you take too long the next objective starts if you are ready for it or not. So no more building 50+ experimentals between objectives/map size changes lol. That should make it a little harder, i know some of the FA capmain maps would have been a nightmare on higher difficulty without the building up trick.

Do you have a source or something to confirm this as the two demo maps definitely allow you to relax and build up your army.. heck, I researched everything there is to research in the demo way before I started building up my army even.

On the mission when you need to take the metal points and build subs, i was busy trying to reseach everything. But 1/2 way through it expanded the map and told me to ingore the remaining metal points lol.

Think this was mission 2.

this happens in the demo, if you havent got the mass collectors by a point then they come at you, also on the last bit of demo the baddie gets the ache and storms towards your base

just played the demo and it runs really well 1900*1200 using two screens, it seems polished but as someone stated above it does have that lego look :p !!!

I need to play it all the way through and spend a little more time but it doesn't seem right, something just feels wrong which I cant put my finger on.

Well that was ultra fun...not. All I did was built fighters and bombers in the second mission and set them to patrol a certain route, whilst I watched The Inbetweeners. Next thing I know its game over because the enemy ACU spawns right on my patrol path and tries to charge my base but gets blown up!

WTF!

You can't point/face your uintis :/

Had a big mass of them so clicked where i wanted them and dragged a bit to try and get them to all pint ne way/line up but no that does nothing :/

So they all moved over there and it was random between they decided a square lump or rectangle which i couldn't direct so they lined up in a long rectangle with the tin end towards the enemy... cue end 5 units getting blasted while rest can't even fire..

The "strategy" in this has de-evolved to age of empires 1 select group lump on top of enemy.

No lining up tanks at the front with air support behind to protect them.

or even just make it so they are in a long rectangle so they can all fire at once instead they just form big squares...

:(

The lack of formations is not helped by the range of the weapons and line of sight being short. All the strategic zoom does is show how bad that is.

Yeah i noticed that you cant use formations too, hopefully thats just flaw in the demo and it will be fixed by release.

@Kainz
LOL same happaned to me, was semi watching when the enimey ACU decided to apeare next to my main air patrol, then proseded to walk into 15 experimental gunships.

Was looking forward to attacking his base too lol.

SOunds stupid but touch technology would be awesome for this game on a touch screen display, mark out the formations with your fingers etc :)

Wonder if we'll ever see PC games advance or are we destined for console hash jobs :(

I think you'd have to wait till touch screens became common before anything like that would happen.

SupCom2... gone the way of C&C. :(

Building and unit size just looks odd.
Don't like how you can't pan flat.
Textures = Yuk!
Don't like the Tech tree, Engery or Mass collection
Too Cartoon-like, bolting on the upgrades for the Rock Head looks out of proportion.

Many more, only played for a little while as I have a banging head. lol.

But I don't like the new direction at all.

That's what I have been fearing :(

I'll get the demo anyway, but probably end up not buying what I had hoped would be an awesome game 6months ago.
