Surprised at ocuk RMA procedure.

And that wasn't me stating they sold me a faulty card it was a quote from the response from someone at ocuk customer support...

We received it back on the 24th and can confirm it was faulty, it has now been sent off to the manufacturer for repair. As stated in the RMA confirmation email this can take up 28 days for an outcome. We will email you as soon as we have an update.

A lot of companies would fob you of with you have to deal with the manufacturer
Yourself
Ocuk are right you bought it from them they are responsible for sorting it
Should you choose so
You could have chosen to deal with the manufacturer directly if you wanted
But only if you wanted to Ie ocuk couldn't have told you to do that if you wanted ocuk to deal with it
Far as I remember if the cards over 6 months old then yes they have the option to try to repair it
Or provide a factory refurbished item
Unfortunately due to the current situation
With covid19 it may take longer than
Normally that's unavoidable though

Well I suppose in the long run it wont matter as i was already saving up for the new AMD/Nvidia offerings to come around. The Red Devil was however put into my first real build since 2015. Now seeing as AMD just said that B450 motherboards wont support new Ryzens and I bought a MSI Tomahawk Max, it may just as end up a secondary system. Real world problems huh.

I had 2 sapphire vegas go faulty on me. The first was after a few months and sent it to ocuk then they sent it to sapphire for repair or replacement within 28 days...sapphire took too long so ocuk offered me a full refund as no cards available due to mining frenzie at the time...i was happy to wait as it was a mining card :)

second one went faulty (diff card) after only a few weeks and sent to ocuk...they offered full refund as was so soon after purchase...i declined as I wanted the card.

I thought ocuk were perfectly reasonable through all of it.

I also had a zotac 980ti go faulty after 4.5 years (extended warranty on all cards if registered within 30 days) so I had to deal with zotac directly.

Was an absolute pleasure as the guys are gamers themselves and knew what they were talking about...7 days from me posting it to having a replacement card...a 1070 extreme amp model as they had not 980ti in stock.

All brands are not the same...happily paid a bit more for next upgrade as it came with 5 years warranty plus good RMA if required....why cant all companies offer the same?

Vote with credit cards......

@Jimbo Make sure you call OcUK after the 28 days is up as you may not hear from them right away.

If they dont hear from PowerColor after the 28 days then afaik, OcUK will just replace your card with a new one from their own stock.

This happened to me with an RMA last year, but with a Sapphire GPU :)

Edit.. also most likely be offered a partial refund as an alternative to a new replacement, which will probably be most of what you paid for it since you have only had the card for so many months.

Thats good to know and I certainly will do. many thanks MyBrainz. :)

And this is why you buy from providers with advance RMA options.

EVGA's rma system is second to none imho.

My Powercolour R9 290x failed just outside of its warranty which was very frustrating but not something I hold against OcUK, probably won’t ever rush back to Powercolour though as a brand/manufacturer

I'd expect full money back or immediate brand new replacement under 1 year old.
I thought that was the law anyway or has everything changed ? even certain second hand shops have no quibbles 12 months warranty.

I do think for such expensive items turnaround time should be within a week.

28 days is utter nonsense. Disgraceful that they get away with it.

I had my surface replaced in 48hrs from MS.

I had my soundbar that was £1100 refunded immediately when out of warranty by a couple of weeks.

I had an Alienware laptop fixed at my office within 12hrs.

I had my 5 series EGR replaced within 4 days.

I had a Sonos speaker replaced within 5 days.

These companies should follow suit. We should expect more, demand more.

I'm in this guys circle.

I guess it just narks me as I see ocuk has 10+ of them always in stock. So I'm pretty sure they know that Powercolor are more than likely not going to turn it around in less than 28 days so I was hoping just to sent a new one from ocuk. Instead i have to wait a long time and probably be back at work soon so wont get to enjoy it as much. I was even tossing up in my mind to just buy a 2070 Super but I know that would be madness as the 3000 serious is not far away and also AMDs cards later this year. Just frustrated that's all.

No? The law has never been that. You've always had to give the retailer, who your contract is with, the chance to repair it. If that means them sending it back to the manufacturer and it taking up to 28 days, so be it - it's really not an unreasonable timescale. If the retailer wants to offer better than that, it's up to them.
